Assuming they both of same rest specs, which notebook would be faster?
I know the 7979m is alot faster then GTX670m but at the resoluton of 1920x1080, particularly gaming would be a alot more demanding for the GPU then at 1366x768.

Short of running identical tests on the two configurations, I don't see how you could answer that. Faster card is faster, but more pixels is more pixels.
I am going to tell you right now that laptops are not good for gaming, but if you insist:

I'd like to play these game in high settings at native resolutions of the notebooks: Shogun 2, later Rome 2, Crysis 2 and later Crysis 3. And they dont really have to look great in pixels as long as they play smoothly at high settings @ native resolutions.
I cannot imagine that either chipset will have problems with any of those, though the 7970M is considerably more powerful. The link I posted earlier shows the magnitude, if you are so curious.
