Couple of questions about battles.

- Not sure about that, do you mean you can walk along the crenelated paths and go into the inner courtyard? If so, i've never done it as it seems a pretty bad way to design a citadel.

It was so in the prepatched game (talking about the castles of course).

Also I started wondering about the ranged attacks - do the defense value counts vs the ranged attacks or it is only the armor + the shield (if available and if in the right position)?

Range attacks only take into account the armor and shield (if struck from front on). Defense skill refers to melee combat. Ranged attacks that are good against armour only take into account half the overall armour and shield value.
