Swords + Spears... What are the stats now?

Hi guys,

Just wondering what the state of affairs with swords and spears are now stat wise. Is it still the case that sword infantry get a +4 attack bonus against spear infantry and/or thats spear infantry get a -4 attack against sword infantry?

Is that why all spear infantry have a much higher attack rating than sword/axe infantry?

I'm playing EB 1.2 Alex with Jirisys mod pack if that changes anything.

Spear attack is little higher, because swords and axes have higher lethality, which is more important for the kill rate..

The bonis of sword units vs. spear depend on the attributes spear/light_spear in the EDU. @Arjos: 0.1 lethality ( most shortswords ) is hardly higher then the 0.13 of spears ;) @Conan: you can always adjust the values in the EDU by yourself. It´s save game compatible ( at least, as long as you don´t mess up things totaly - so make a backup! ). Many people here, including me, have changed the lethality of the weapons quite a lot ( especially upped the 0.1 lethality of short swords to 0.13-0.15 ).
The sword "ap" units, for instance, have terribly low attack values + low lethality like 0.11m and therefore are quite ineffective in killing units like skirmishers ( who move faster, and have better stamina ), but perform well aganst heavily armoured counterparts.
Anyway, i for one, have adjusted the edu so much, that is doesn´t look like the original one anymore ( playing on BI.exe ).
