I'm impressed at the number of highly qualified members in this forum. We have doctors and teachers in here. This forum is where I read the most intelligent debates on the internet. I'm sure that when it comes to unsurmountable obstacles, Totalwar.org members are the ones who can find a way. Posting this message on this forum already alleviates my concern.

The obstacle in my case involves a young lady in her mid-20s who works at the lobby of our building. She is an information assistant. I have never been attracted to a woman as much as I am to her. I look at her everytime I pass by her. Sometimes she looks at me, but I can't tell how she thinks of me. Once I got face to face with her suddenly when the elevator door opened between us. She looked and smiled at me beautifully. I got nervous and didn't say a word to her. The problem is that I don't know her, and I've never spoken to her. There are security guards who stand in the lobby. I'm a tall dude, but I'm skinny. These security guards are around my height and yet they're buff! I fear that she'd report me to those security guards if I talk to her in the wrong way.

Let's say that you're attracted to her as much as I am. What would you do?

I am not kidding, no idea why, but women like me. I have it all the time I am flirted at wherever I go. I am not particulary handsome or well-build, I don't really understand it myself. Not bragging, it's just how it is.

Just follow Swordsmasters advice. If you wait longer, either by trying to come up with some contrived excuse to talk to her or by thinking of the best introduction ever, it will just get more awkward because shes already seen you walk by 1000x times.

Not that this is necessarily going to pay off, just pointing out that waiting too long is a bad idea.

It's correct that it becomes a little awkward not to say anything for a while but that's the fault of both sides IMO, I'm progressive like that.

Have you done the basics? Asked around, found out who she is, checked to see if you two have any common acquaintances or friends?

If not, yeah, just introduce yourself. Try to be chill. Something along the lines of, "We keep running into each other. Hi, I'm [x]."

It doesn't need to be complex. Beautiful women are people, too, with the exact same set of insecurities and oddities as everyone else.

I get what you are saying, waitresses, bartenders and so on have people flirting with them TOO MUCH at times.

With that said, waitresses, bartenders and yes, even receptionists also deserve romance.

As long as you'r not a slob or to drunk/stupid to understand when you are told of, go right ahead. I have heard so many beautiful girls in service jobs complain that men THEY are interested in don't dare to flirt, because they think the extra smile is just part of the service.

Again, manners. If you say she is beautiful and ask if she wants to go for a coffee some day, the worst thing that can happen is that she says no. She will only hate you for it if you can't take a no, or if you start being creepy.

Kinda have it everywhere. Fun story, I was in Paris and the girl at the entrance was cute so I asked her if she wanted to have a wine when she was done working. At 2 am I got a knock on my door YAY. Was not the girl but the hotel-manager who furiously started vaccuum-cleaning my room. Bit too old for me so I acted as if I didn't understand her and acted as if nothing happened next day. But things like that tend to happen to me

By the way, this saturday was related to this thread. I'll bore you with a story from the "exciting" life of HoreTore!

So, me and a few pals went to town. Unusually for me, I wasn't very drunk, so I have a good memory of the night. Anyway, me and a friend was sitting at a table opposite two women. I started hitting on the short one, of course(I'm not tall, except when in Italy). Eventually, my friend started hitting on the other woman. I should probably say "hitting on". I couldn't hear all of his nonsense due to the music and my attempts on the other one, but one of his first sentences was "but you who are so delicious", said in a rather sleazy manner. The high point came when he touched her boob and she responded with "No, that's not okay" before going leaving with her friend to the ladies room.

Fast forward a couple of hours, and my friend has his tongue in her throat. To top it off, the short one informed me she had a boyfriend.

My world-view was shattered that night. She was a right hottie too, way above his standard! I left them at the kebab shop, as I was too frustrated to sty any longer...

I guess the morale is that it's sometimes good to be an incompetent, clueless weirdo.

I cannot emphasise how true this is - she's likely say yes if you're halfway good looking, not completely awkward and she's single. If she doesn't so what? It's only coffee, it's not like you dropped down on one knee and swore your life to her, is it?

Even I can (and have) asked girls out for coffee.
