Thread: Bernanke -- Madoff

    Default Bernanke -- Madoff

So my father in law keeps wanting me to post some Twitter question for thousands of followers. I know nothing of Twitter. I think what he really needs is for somebody like Barak Obama to post this, I heard that guy has some Twitter followers. Fortunately after asking the question he required no response on my part. I'll ask his question here:

How does Ben Bernanke go free while Bernie Madoff goes to jail?

Too big to fail, too big to jail.

Did you think politicians couldn’t be corrupt?

Federal Prosecutors, Department of Justice, Executive branch…

I am sure he is correct. He is from the Peoples Democratic Republic of Oregon. They are indoctrinated and educated to think that way.

He risks losing his party credentials speaking out like that.

What can you do about political corruption; the people with the power to change the system are the very beneficiaries of it.

Then it is not go home and watch the news on TV so they can feed you more bull. Get out and make some noise.

You need something like an Occupy Washington Movement representing all the political views. People need to make common cause against this kind of thing.

Stop thinking Political Party and start thinking of how corrupt or elected representation has become, and that is from the President down to the city counsel.

The left is unhappy with what Obama is doing but they keep quiet because he is their man. The right disliked what Bush did but kept quiet because he was their man.

It is not the Party people! It is the politicians! You know they lie and cheat, call them on it, your party or not!

Tweet it, Facebook it, what ever. Maybe something will stick and people will open their eyes.

As Fisherking was into. Find one of the most visibly corrupted one and hunt him down until resignation or prison. Then proceed doing that to a few more, until they fear the people enough to shapen up. The normal people might only have the power to take down the bad leaders, so it's sorely needed to be used on those leaders that has what both sides counts as unacceptable behavior.

Careful with that, fanatics are thriving on chaos. That's why revolutions often devours it's children.

We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

Oh noes! It turns out that all that stuff about America and the West being the greatest expression of humanity was just self serving bull@#&*! My world view is in tatters.

Seeing the org turning from flag waving neo con central to bitter Marxist is the only thing that brings me any solace from the grimness out there.

Or just, you know, stand for election. The problem with politics is that normal citizens have ceased to take an interest in it, leaving it to the cranks and loons.

The only problem is you can't get elected unless you belong to one of the two big parties. They have all the money, the connections, and the name recognition. And then if you do belong to one of the two parties, you have to appeal to the party establishment in order to get on the ballot.

Find oil in your back garden, you will end up getting elected.

What they will do is declare your neighbourhood as a hazardous living area, forcing everyone to be relocated due to "health and safety" concerns, with just above market value for the properties. Then they will simply "annex it" then sell it to the American-owned Beyond Petroleum for less than the market value after some 'intense' lobbying.

There are actually rules here regarding this. In the area where I live some villages are sitting on coal deposits and this means they have to make room for the common good. It's regulated by law and what basically happens is that the people who live there get ample warning and the coal company has to buy their houses at market value or something, then a new village place is destined somewhere away from the coal deposit and citizens can build themselves a new village there. Of course it never works as optimal as it sounds and apart from complaints about the lost emotional values and village spirit, there are financial issues where people claim the money they get is not enough etc.
In the end however, the largest excavators in the world are going to munch their way through the grounds of the former village.

I don't think oil is extracted in the same way, but at least here we have laws which say what happens in case someone lives on a property with resources that can be exploited for the good of the whole country.

Yeah, my point was just that Germany is more awesome and has the biggest diggers in the world.

The United States is the same as any superpower ever was and is the same as any nation state would be if given the chance

This whole democracy thing gives us a chance to temper this but that's really the best we can hope for.

That's correct, and just like all the others it will crumble one day due to internal greed and power struggles.
