Question M2:TW Giving Traits to Characters with first & second names!???

    Hi there,
I am trying to give traits and influences to new characters, but if they have both a Christian name and a Surname, I cannot get the system to accept my instruction.

For example, if my character is called Mickey Mouse and I want to increase his loyalty I would input (according to every set of instructions I can find) this:
give_trait Mickey Mouse Loyalty 5................however I keep getting the error message - err: character not found
I have tried every way I can think of but no variation of code can make it work and neither can I select the character and then use the "give_trait this...." instruction.

Can someone help me resolve this? Thank you!

I think you need to type it like this: give_trait "Mickey Mouse" GoodCommander 5

I don't think "loyalty is a trait anyway. A list of traits can be found here.

Thanks Darth, I will try the quote marks...............I used Loyalty as an example, that was all, to demonstrate my confusion!

This game is immense, I can't believe how addictive it is!

There is another way. Just make sure the character is selected. (It helps to have them outside of a settlement.)

Also, it helps to have them selected and their portrait highlighted. This way the computer knows you have definitely selected the character in question.

Then you can add whatever you like. I usually add a point of BattleChivalry 1 to my generals as the game sometimes has trouble letting you cultivate that naturally. I just wanna start them off on the right foot.

You're welcome! I learned how to do that to help the game out lol. There seem to be a lot of problems with the game, passing on traits and stuff. That or I'm too particular.

    Glad it helped. :D

give_trait this <trait> and give_ancillary this <ancillary> is your friend if you like to cheat :) If you play vanilla M2TW I certainly understand why you need to "fix" your generals, but there are many mods out there where the bugs have been fixed. The mutually exclusive Battle Chivalry and Battle Fear traits you mentioned are a great example.

An early version of Blood, Broads and Bastards is probably your best choice IMO

Also, you might need to check the names file to make sure that you are addressing the right character if you're not using "this" or if he is in settlement.

A little light cheating hasn't hurt anyone. xD

The game's kinda broke in some ways too. You can have an intelligent princess and a smart general marry and lo and behold, none of the kids inherit the intelligence. x_x Which I guess is... okay. Interestingly, the handsome trait is really easy to pass on. (As are ugly, insane, and infertile.)

I use a few mods though. Some help out quite a bit. Blood, Broads, and Bastards is especially good for addressing these issues. :D

Interesting example. I very much agree that an early version of BBB is a good choice.
