“German soldiers who raped Dutch women were actually hanged” The ones who raped, looted and burned houses in my village probably got Iron Crosses.

Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. Voltaire.
"I've been in few famous last stands, lad, and they're butcher shops. That's what Blouse's leading you into, mark my words. What'll you lot do then? We've had a few scuffles, but that's not war. Think you'll be man enough to stand, when the metal meets the meat?"
"You did, sarge", said Polly." You said you were in few last stands."
"Yeah, lad. But I was holding the metal"

Well they also have been kinda mean here, as a retaliation for the assasination of a high officer the entire male population of the village Putten was rounded up and adieud to Poland. But that is nothing compared to the hurt that was put on the Polish and the Russians. A lot of the Dutch were nazi's themselves, we hate to hear it but we know it's true, the Dutch weren't just victims of the Germans but collaboraters
Kind of a moot point, since they acted beastly in every country they "liberated". Several of those countries were voluntary allies of Germany and thus co-responsible, but Soviet troops didn't go easy on Poland either - despite the fact that a huge number of Poles actually fought alongside the Russians for the liberation of their country.
Also, the original post is a bit off. The Red Army had most of eastern Europe firmly under their boot and continued their rape and beatings for several years after the end of WW2. By the time the Deutsche Demokratische Republik was declared in 1949 they weren't done yet.
