THE RUMBLE

Small mafia-style game for 17 players.
Each round is divided into FOUR phases, not two.

6am-11:59am [Day Phase]- Vote for someone to be put to a (near)certain death, in a duel with the Gunslinger. [Lynch]

• HIGH NOON- The duel with the Gunslinger.

12pm-5:59pm [Day Phase]- The daily tournament. You shall be paired off and forced to battle for my own personal amusement. [Duel]

• SUNDOWN- An all-out [R,P,S style] battle. Fight for glory, honor, and most importantly, all the beer in Belgium.
• Inactivity will be punished!

6pm-11:59pm [Night Phase]- Peace and quiet. All nice and snuggly in your comfy-wumfy bed. Nothing bad could possibly happen.

• MIDNIGHT- Things go bloodcurdling in the night.

12am-5:59am [Night Phase]- A brief intermission while we remove the bodies and shampoo the carpets. Those stubborn blood stains...

• DAWN- One may be spared from the beasts. One may be spared from the Gunslinger. These blessings are given out only once per person.

Teams:

Innocent Townsfolk: [Townies]

• You win if all the beasts are slain.
• If you win, you may continue your duels until there is a champion standing.
• The champion may challenge the Gunslinger.

Not-so-Innocent Townsfolk: [Beasts]

• You win if you outnumber the townsfolk.
• If you win, you each may challenge the Gunslinger.

Dead Townsfolk: [Deceased]

• You are ranked according to the outcome of the Tournament.
• The champion will face one final duel. If you prevail, you win regardless of which team you were on.
• You will also be asked to participate in giving out blessings. Your role in the game does not end when you die.

I need 17 full, active players, and reserve players would be welcome. Other rules and conditions will be posted at game start. You do not win by voting for Askthepizzaguy. I will count all such votes as abstains. Oh, one last thing: You should sign up for Andres' game if you intend to join this one. If you do, you will receive a (small) blessing from the Lord.

Each part of the "Day" will be at least 24 hours long. Although certain phases won't go on much beyond that, schedule permitting.

Heads up to all, voting phases will have a set, announced deadline for end of voting, and will not be extended for any reason.

Other phases (non-voting) may be extended if my work schedule is taxing me.

I will try to end all phases at a set time of the day, and if the previous phase bleeds over into the next one, the deadline for the next phase may be pushed up a day.

THE RUMBLE

Day One

Morning Day Phase- 6AM



The sun rose over the dusty canyon. The town known only as "Gameroom" is still sleeping soundly in their beds.

This forgotten town hasn't seen much in the way of good news for quite some time. The town is at the very end of a long and dusty trail, and just beyond that is the edge of the canyon. There's no bridge to the other side, and nothin' over there worth building a bridge for.

There hasn't been much rain lately. Even the river hasn't swelled in some time... the snows didn't come this winter. The farmers have long since moved on, their fields turned to dust. But there are still ranches, and cattle, and pigs, and whatnot. People still live here, And people still travel from far and wide, on account of this town having a lot of what you might call a.... "history". You see, in its heyday, this town was quite the notorious little place. There were gangsters, and lawmen, and all manner of crazy characters come through here, looking to make a name for themselves. Some of them became famous. Some others.... well, they're buried down in that canyon somewhere. But there haven't been lawmen here in ages. Town's not big enough to afford a Sheriff no more. And there ain't nothin' left worth stealin' or killin' for. At least, that's how it's been for a while.

But that's where I come in. You see, I was just a simple pizza delivery man. Yeah, them cowboys eat pizza, too. Expensive to get all the right ingredients way out here by truck, but folks do it anyway. And like I was saying, I was just a simple pizza delivery man. Last night I was, anyhow. When the sun rose this morning, I was a pizza man no more. Seems someone out there don't like pizza men. Or maybe they like them a little bit too much, I can't say. It's all such a blur...

The town of Gameroom found my body square in the middle of town, and torn to shreds. The ground must have been so thirsty that it done soaked up all the blood. All that remained was a body, half-buried in the sand.Not the prettiest sight you'd ever see. And not how I planned on leavin' town, either. But you never plan on something like this happening. There weren't nothin' anyone could do to save me. Happened so fast, I couldn't even scream.

I don't want no fancy funeral. I don't have no will, and nobody to give all of my nothin' to. All I really want, if anyone out there is listening, is a little justice. If someone could find out who or what did this to me, that would be mighty kind of you.

Well, well.... what do you know. Seems like Gameroom has a visitor after all. There seems to be a gentleman rode in on a horse, wearin' a hat pulled down over his eyes, and two silver revolvers slung by his waist. This wasn't the man who killed me.... wasn't even in town yet. If there's anyone could sort this mess out, I'm sure he could.

What's his name, I wonder. Does he even have a name?

For now, let's just call him the Gunslinger.

The stranger's horse stopped not ten feet from my body, just as the crowd was beginning to gather. "Who done this?" one of the townsfolk asked. "Who would want to kill a pizza man?" said another. "Who wouldn't want to kill a pizza man?" said yet another. "We ain't got no Sheriff. Who is gonna protect us from who or whatever killed 'im?"

"Seems you're havin' a bit of trouble with your pizza guy." said the Gunslinger.

"Trouble, I'll say. He's dead! And one of us might be next!" replied someone in the crowd.

"Say you got no lawmen in town. Don't look like coyotes could do a thing like this. Looks like he was killed by a man-sized beast." said the Gunslinger.

"Or perhaps a man posing as a beast!" said someone. "Or a beast posing as a man...." said another.

"Tell you what. Give me two bottles of whiskey, and I'll help you solve this crime. On one condition: My word is law. My judgment is final." said the Gunslinger.

"We ain't got no choice, I guess. You're the only one here who couldn't a done it. What do you suggest?"

The Gunslinger pointed at the silver hanging from his waist.

"You know each other better than I do. Bring me the person you think ain't acting right, and I'll set them straight the best way I know how."

"That don't seem like a kind of justice I ever heard of. That just sound like random killing." said someone.

That someone's hat flew clean off of his head, and a thunderous noise echoed through the canyon. Before anyone could see it happen, the Gunslinger drew his weapon and fired. Put a hole clean through that hat.

I don't recall anyone else ever questioning the Gunslinger after that. Folk in the Gameroom are pretty smart that way.



"You have till High Noon to bring me a suspect. High Noon happens to be at 3:00 AM Friday the 24th of May, EDT for some reason. Don't look at me like that, or you'll be talkin' to Delilah."

The Gunslinger held up Delilah for everyone to see. She is very pretty, and all covered in silver. The sun shone off her like diamonds.

Well this is already different from some of the other forums I've played in. There, they hem and haw, saying how unfair and random a Day 1 vote is. Here it's like "has the game started? Well I've already lined up my first six votes, so tell me when I can start placing them," like little Johnny Votingseed.

Questions, for Pizza or whomever else wishes to answer

1) Will this game be located entirely within this one thread? (yeah, I'm sure there are other mystery forums out there, I'm just talking about whether there will be one thread or multiples in this forum)
2) Can a player vote for multiple players simultaneously, or must we unvote first?
3) Is there a vote counting bot or will this be a manual operation? Assuming manual, how often will we get an official vote count?
