Why do random thoughts vacate my brain every time I visit this thread?

Visiting the thread primes you to specifically conceive "random" thoughts suitable for posting, and so you concentrate on that task. However, the point of random thought is that they be serendipitous, and not specially formulated for an occasion. So it's like how thinking about how you would like to stop thinking about something only exacerbates the problem.

    Anyway, here's a quote:

A good way to get random thoughts is to pick a random word, like "tomato".

Then you just write down whatever comes into your mind, like for instance: would it be profitable to sell rotten tomatoes in a room that has Justin Bieber in it? How would Justin Beaber look with a beard? Could Gregoshi be a good bearded Justin Beaber look alike and would he like to become my partner in our new rotten tomatoes business. Also, will this solve all climate problems? And how the heck is that related to each other? Montmorency is crazy.

lol, I don't come here looking for things to post. I come here when I have already thought of something weird and feel like sharing it.
For instance, I just learned yesterday that driving a zero-turn mower is hard at first if you have never done it and no one has given you instruction on how to use it.

Thanks for the tips. I prefer my stimuli to be as randomly occurring as the random thought rather then forcing the issue - and the lack of randomly occurring stimuli has been the issue. Okay, here's one I remember from work the other day:

Is a pedicure a psychological treatment for a pedophile?* Or is a pedophile a tool used during a pedicure?**

    * Is a pedometer used to measure the success of the pedicure?
** Or is a pedometer used to measure how many feet have been pedophiled?
    [/random]

Why must you ruin this thread by reminding us that our minds are not really ours. Just let me sit here for 20 minutes coming up with something to rake in the precious thanks from other members.

I helped my sister move today. Up three flights of stairs with a myriad of heavy furniture. Tired. My father (who also helped) treated me to dinner afterwards though. I never knew a fried egg could be so good on a hamburger. The service was poor, but I met another point of interest to which I can focus my hands and perhaps grab.

Good thinking de moi. I came back from the supermarket right and there was this really cute really softspoken black girl who asked me for directions, obviously lost, she had to be at some sort of foundation I never heard of, but I know the street. Giving direction is a nightmare as I live in a maze of small streets and alleys and it all runs in circles, so I offered her to walk her a bit, my apartment is on route (which I forgot to mention). So I walked her a bit untill my home but opened my frontdoor first. She absolutily froze. I told her to head to the end of the street, and go to the right. I then realised I must have absolutily terrified her. Way to go. Apoligised for scaring her and continued with being an idiot.

Just now, I put a cup of plain no fat yogurt, some raw kale and a whole banana in my Ninja blender. Whipped it up and had the best meal EVER! Well, I have had better, but it was pretty good. I also bought a yogurt maker that heats the milk for you but it hasn't arrived yet. Veggie yogurt is quite good if you put something sweet in it to taste. Next time, I might try Kale and carrots plus the banana. Could be interesting. :D

We were thaught to respect old people, but I sometimes wonder, why do we have to respect somebody just because of their age? Getting old is just being lucky. We don't respect a guy who won in the casino or the lottery because he was lucky, so why do we have to respect old people just because they're old? Isn't that ageism? Aren't we all equal? Isn't everybody worthy of the same amount of respect? We frown upon considering someone of a certain race or a certain religion as superior, but for somebody who is of old age, we don't have a problem to bow our heads in respect? There are plenty of young or middle-aged people who already achieved a lot more that deserves respect than some old dude who was lucky enough not to die young. Also, old people do not have a monopoly on wisdom. On the contrary, I'd even dare to say that a child can hold far more wisdom, even if it is unintentional.

A recent visit to the movies gave me a good idea....

What if the seats were pressure triggered, and the input was sent to a display piece at the entrance of the movie theatre. Imagine walking into a theatre and having a LCD screen (or something) that told you how many seats were seats were available and where.

It would look something like this :

If you put semi-accurate weight sensors in the seats, you could highlight which seats were likely occupied by children. Color code those red, to allow patrons to seat themselves far away if desired

heck, you don't need weight sensors. instead, you can deploy some sort of light based sensor. a person sits on it, block out the light, and that gets registered (electrical discharge or sth).

What on earth is my generation going to say to their kids when they become teenagers? 15-25 years from now, those service jobs are going to be gone. All it takes is for some creative programmer to actually come up with a good UI and every cashier will be replaced with a touch screen. Why does anyone actually bother to go inside a bank nowadays? YOu can do it all at the ATM or your phone even.

Cheap TV's and plentiful programmers will be the death of the service industry and it's already happening. Get a job? Not until you get some sort of degree first.

In a such a scenario, people will most likely move back to unskilled jobs where some degree of human involvement is still required, like farming or fishing.

Because I remember back when you were playing Doran, you seemed to spend less than 4 of those 24 hours actually sleeping.
