You make out that if you pre order you get the Greek states pack for free....how is it free for me now when you compare it to the people that pre ordered for 29.99? £15 difference?

Tell me, how much are u planning on offering the dlc to non pre-orders...let me guess? £15.00? so in fact i have bloody paid for the first dlc, it wasn't free at all!

    First of all, calm down.

Second, Im not sure where you see that the price was reduced on Steam as I dont see it, even on the European versions of Steam but Ill take your word for it.

Third, a company can change the price of pre-orders whenever the hell they want, its their product. They are not beholden to you just because of bad timing. I bought Mass Effect 3 for $15. Literally the day later it was reduced to $7.45. A few months ago I bought Arma2:CO for $25 when a few days later it was $15. Was I pissed about it? Yeah, a bit, but how the hell should I have known the price was going to be reduced? So Iaccepted it and moved on, stuff like this happens. You dont like it? Dont buy another CA game.

Forth, why do you think complaining here will change anything?

And clean up your grammar if you want to be taken seriously here.

Just checked the US Steam store, no discount and/or sale on the pre-order. You might want to double-check the UK store before you go postal.

You are complaining that others can get a good deal because you didn't? Seems a little selfish to me. Personally, I am always happy to see games go on sale.

Don't see a price change for Rome II on Steam neither (Belgium).

On the matter of price reductions, well yes, it happens a lot that Steam gives a temporary discount on games. And you have very frequent sales periods too. Try to remember for the future that, unless you want a certain game really really hard and can't wait to have it, it's usually better to wait a bit until the price on your favourite game drops. If you can be patient, it's possible to acquire all your games dirt cheap.

If you're a cheapskate like me, then you wait for a year or so and buy during a sales period. I'm also the type of guy who dislikes changing the tires of his car, because new tires are worth more than the car itself.

£29.99 for me, if I were the op'er I'd be pissed too. Luckily, I don't trust CA enough to pre-order anything they make.

Fair enough that if a price changes post release it's just bad luck, but dropping a price during a pre-order period is pretty poor going, I can only imagine the pre-orders weren't what Sega expected.

Again, before we get all heated up, I'd like confirmation that this has actually happened. Nobody but the OP has reported this sale.

@ctr2020, it would be very useful if you could post a link or screenshot. For the childrens.

    -edit-

Why I find the "pre-orders must be sucktastic" argument lacking:

Total War: Rome II fastest preordered game in franchise history

According to the company's data, more than six times the number of gamers have preordered a copy during its "first official week" than did for predecessor Total War: Shogun 2.

Perhaps you should read the line above the one you quoted...

The sub-hed for the article (which is what I think you're referencing) is "Sega reveals preorder figures for upcoming strategy game are over six the number for Shogun 2 during its 'first official week.' " So they hada great first week. And that's all of the published data we have.

Note that R2 is consistently in the top 5 Steam ranks under the "top sellers" tab.

I dunno, most companies keep sales data secret, and Valve doesn't release figures. But the circumstantial evidence seems to be that R2 is selling fine. And nobody seems to be able to locate the sale the OP referenced.

Is R2 selling as well as CA would like? Who the hell knows? Unless you have the actual sale figures and access to the CA boardroom, how on earth could anyone answer that?

Silly Lemur, I meant the line above the part of my post you quoted, where I confirmed the price drop was the same for me.

    Ah, I see it, apologies.

Is the sale through Steam, or is it a 3rd party promo?

Steam, supposedly to match price of boxed copies. I think Get Games always had it at that price.

    Proof, for you doubting non-Brits:

Creative Assembly read my reply to the original price, and that of many other fans. They decided to bring the price down in the UK since no one was buying it from Steam (from the UK) due to getting it from Amazon and its kin.

Unfortunately for the OP, Steam does not have a pay-back scheme like Amazon offers, so where the price drops, you get the reduction.

... which exchanges to $45.89 at today's rates. Which means you horrible British people are getting a bargain. I think I speak on behalf of the rest of the world in saying: We hate you.

    @ctr2020

I have just confirmed that you CAN get a REFUND on your Steam pre-order.
An exception is made for games purchased during a pre-order period if the request is received prior to the games' release date

Mmm.. I have never pre-ordered from steam so i dont know, but as far as i know from personal experience through Game uk and amazon, you dont get charged for preorders until the game is released. How is it any different on steam?

UK Steam customers are being offered Rome II at the now reduced price of £30.
CA have no say in what price Steam or retailers sell the game at, At least, Will a CA spokesman has stated on another forum.
Of course people in the UK were not buying from steam when they could get the game for a much lower price from other suppliers.
    Hence Steam lowered the price.
Anyway steam will make a tidy profit on its monopoly with DLC sales and game patches/expansions.
