Post Lime Green Energy - Nuclear or Fossil?

    http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-23236532

Coal reduces lifespan in North China by an average of 5.5 years.

    Fukushima no immediate deaths.
'Now the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation has drawn on 80 scientists from 18 countries to produce a draft report that concludes: "Radiation exposure following the nuclear accident at Fukushima-Daiichi did not cause any immediate health effects. It is unlikely to be able to attribute any health effects in the future among the general public and the vast majority of workers."'

So a casual policy of giving 500 million people free coal to heat their homes has resulted in an average of five and a half years loss of life expectancy.

An old nuclear power plant is hit with a massive earthquake then a tsunami and the outcome is not a single case of radiation sickness. Long term infants in localized hot spots are looking at a 6-7% increased chance in getting cancer over their lifetime.

So why not support nuclear power?

Its certainly safer then coal, fertilizer or oil.
Our genes maybe in the basement but it does not stop us chosing our point of view from the top.
