The Holy Roman Empire has deemed it necessary that we take to some local Italian and Danish lords the news of their change of liege. These localized conflicts shall not translate into full-scale war against fellow Catholics, we assure the other rules of Europe.

I've updated the first post to include point total for each player. Please announce if you gain points in thread when you post the next turn so I can keep things up to date :)

[Are those rebels settlements you captured, or are you taking some points loses?]
The Polish King understands that such things must occur from time to time, but wishes it to be clear that he shall not stand idle if these localized conflicts show any sign of spreading into his own lands. Italian and Danish lords may be easily swayed, but Polish ones will remain true to their King.

Haven't captured them yet, just besieged. Also, the Polish King has nothing to fear.

Hello guys, I'm actually leaving for Florida on vacation for 10 days on Friday so I will probably be inactive.
If you are thinking of a replacement, send a PM or tell him to send a PM and I can give him my passcode if necessary

I can't remember if I actually turned someone's trade proposition down. If so, it was not my intent. Sure, perhaps some bargaining, but not turning it down.
NB, can you please explain the crusade mechanics? We basically roleplay it out but don't call an in-game crusade? Or we do? Who does the actual calling of it? Thanks.

Anyone may attempt to call it by posting in the thread when it is their turn. No in game crusade is actually called. Instead, you role play it out (or whatever) to try to get more than half of the players in the game to vote for the crusade to start. If more than half of the non-excommunicated players vote for it by the time it is your turn again then the crusade has begun. No in game crusade is actually called, it simply changes the points awarded for the settlements in question as described in the rules. Does that make sense?

Good luck with your exam Darth!
Ah, yes NB it does make sense. But I thought the whole point of playing Catholics only is to use the actual Crusade mechanic. We even had rules to circumvent crusade mechanic cooldown abuse. Because if we aren't going to use the actual mechanic, Orthodox christian factions are fair game then.

We are also using the crusade mechanics. You can ask the pope to declare a crusade on a player in game at any time. This other non in game crusade thing is separate. So there are two different types of potential crusades. roleplay based ones that just change points awarded, and in game ones that can only be called against players, or if the pope just calls one on his own.

Aww, so if that happens we can't take advantage of increased speed and crusader mercenaries :/
EDIT: Wait, so if we can't call an ingame crusade, do we have to ask military access to every country that we need to go through lest our relations start plummetting?

Hm. So long as you don't get yourself excommunicated, you don't need to worry. The Pope will call a crusade on Cordoba or Jerusalem soon(ish). Since we can't bribe him I don't think he will pay attention to what we say to him anyway, unless someone plays like a mr. goody two shoes and kills pagans from turn one. *glares at Poland*

yep, you will lose a little bit of points for it, and must be careful to not get excommunicated, but it will probably be worth the points loss to boost up your economy.
Also, if people feel the -3 is too restrictive, I'm opening to lowering it to -2 or something like that.
