Default Recommendations for a R2TW video card

Part of the reason i can't fully enjoy R2TW is that large battles are choppy on max settings, yet I am loathe to lower the settings to a more bearable level. My processor and ram are sufficeint, so I must then upgrade my video card.

Which one (nvidia are my brand of choice) would allow me to run Rome II absolutely flawlessly?

Ive been working with an Nvidia 640m for the past few years thats worked just fine even with 14,000 man battles as long as I didnt put graphics above high. My new laptop with a GTX 850M will be arriving on Monday so we will see what will happen with that.

Out of curiosity, what graphics card do you have now?

Nvidia GTX 570. PC 2 and a half years old. Even at the time it wasn't top of the line, but it was adequate. My I7 and the 16 GV of ram, not to mention the fast mother board, have served me faithfully. But the 570 is not handlnig the massive battles as well as I would have liked.

Well that makes sense, its over 2 years old. Really any of the current 700-800 series would probably be sufficient.

This all hinges of course on budget, but I've got a GTX 970 that handles the game pretty well. And since I hate fan noise I specifically always buy MSI's Twin Frozr series:

I don't overclock it more than it comes from them at, although you can, and this is a good card for that. I use it because it comes from MSI already fast and stable but most importantly to me at least, running very quietly. The temp range on my card is low 30's idle and under max load it hits low 60s, which means the fan noise even at max is barely noticeable.

That's my 2 cents based on my own experience. Of course if you don't however want to spend $350 bucks, this might not be the card for you. Thing is, this card beats the performance of everything that preceded its release that until it came out all went for 500+ bucks. So, from that angle this was a game changer.
