Ian Heath bases his Italian Seaman, 12th-13th centuries on the Sea Battle between the Pisans and Genoese, 1241 and the Siege of Damietta in Chronica Majora by Matthew Paris.
He also describes French or English seamen in the Sea Battle off Sandwich from the same manuscript.
