Default Maps with slots per region? Ports?

Anyone got information about the maximum population slots per region? Or those regions with scope for ports? I was wondering if it was possible to obsessively and meticulously plan my empire and this information would be very helpful!

(If there is already an intrepid mapper out there, let me know so I can contribute any new findings I make)

I think this link comes closest to what you're looking for, as far as a map resource for planning. http://maps.totalwar.com/ It doesn't show which coastal regions have ports or not (which would indeed be useful), but it does reflect trade/food/commercial resources, which I find quite helpful. Also clearly shows how many settlement regions are within each province.

As far as building slots, it's pretty standard:

Provincial capitals have 6 slots if coastal, and 5 slots inland. In both cases, the city settlement and the port are fixed (i.e., you can't remove them). So all capitals have 4 "discretionary" slots.

Minor settlements have 4 slots if coastal, and 3 slots inland. After the fixed settlement/port slots, all minor settlements have 2 discretionary slots.

Coastal provincial capital with all slots visible. In this case, the 6th and final slot is still growing.

Inland provincial capital, all slots available.

Coastal minor settlement, all slots available.

Inland minor settlement, all slots available.

So do you actually have the game already?

    Righto! I picked him because he looked like a bureaucrat-scholar and I am basically a bureaucrat-scholar. :)

More on the scholar side, or the bureaucrat side?

I am doing an okay job of keeping them balanced I think. ;) I am privately pleased at being able to practically apply some philosophy in the workplace! :)
