mercenaries and loyalty

Is it a huge problem for mercs to have low loyalty? I have some merc units with zero loyalty. They have not started a civil war yet (after many many years,) but I wanted to know if the game differentiated between raised troops and mercs when determining this. I guess it should be expected that they would have low loyalty as they are mercs.

... remember that you need to have a fairly influential (ie high ranking) general to persuade other generals with low loyalty to rebel... since mercs don't start with high ranking generals it's not likely that any of them would rebel (although it is likely that they would join the rebel side if a rebellion was incited by another of your generals).

Thx for that tip Illustrated. I actually did not remember that (guess I should read the manual more closely). That is good news though. My merc longbowmen do not have high ranking generals. Thank goodness, I would hat to slaughter them.

Its always nice to have a merc general with a high rating. Seems like you just cant go wrong with an aggressive building scheme in an empire--it makes everyone extremely happy, rich and loyal

I don't think the game really cares if the mercenarys revolt compared to the raised troops (though I have seen some pretty disloyal troops raised in my empire)
