So I just finished my Macedon Campaign and I did it without triggering a civil war... EVER..... Ive never done this before and I wasn't even aware it could be done. Has Anyone done this?

did you cross into the last portion of the imperium bar? I mean, it is possible to win without triggering the CW if aiming for cultural/economic victory; even military is possible by nurturing many allies.
yep I had the last imperium. and I got military victory btw

That's a new benchmark then.
I have not seen anyone reporting civil wars since patch 7 though. I, on my part, have not gotten to the last imperium bar in my games: my MPC is stalled due to a newly introduce desync and the SP campaigns I just restart constantly to experiment. But, alas, I have not seen anyone complaining about a vicious civil war since patch 7... Might be CW is bugged now? Or the CA removed it, LOL?
the mechanic is still there I don't see why it wouldn't happen

I for one would be happy to hear they tweaked it so it's possible to complete a campaign w/o civil war triggering. It would finally make politics worth paying attention to, right now I do it just because it's there to be done, not because it matters.
well im gonna go back in and see if I can force the civil war to trigger
*edit* Well I dropped the balance of power to 0% and still no proc... Kinda cuts my feeling of accomplishment =/

My guess is that you started on one of the previous patches (pre new imperium). The changes the subsequent patches introduced made a jumble of your save file. Same as in the broken imperium Slaists is experiencing in our Athens succession game.

This is Total War!
Win the game having declared war on every faction the turn you encountered them, as well as never negotiating a peace treaty.

s far as I understand any kind of client state or other means does count as peace

In Rome 2 I'd just start on the easiest difficulty as Rome and autoresolve my way to victory.

Whats life without a challenge? If im going to get an achievement im going to earn it

If you want challenge you can do your own house rules to increase the difficulty. I personally don't care about achievements, but If I did, i'd go through the shortest and easiest way in getting them.
No one has reported much about Carthage and Epirus thus far, which are supposed to be the hardest factions out there. Well, I think @Slaists tried Epirus a while back. I'm tempted to give them a go on the new patch to see how they perform.

My understanding is that the total-war achievement in RTW 2 is awarded only for legendary difficulty ;)
I might be wrong on that one though.
For a challenge (starting campaign, since there is none in mid-to-late campaign with any faction) I recommend either Carthage (playing as Barcids, which means no trade to speak of) or Epirus. I find Barcids to be harder since Epirus can get trade going once it wins a few of the starting engagements. Barcids on legendary get no trade, period (Nova Carthago and potentially Etruscans are an exception).
There is a caveat to playing as Barcids: for the challenge play I recommend trying to keep all the starting territories (not giving up on neither Sicily nor Spain). This can quickly lead to a cascade of wars which Carthage is hard pressed to finance, LOL.
p.s. funny how they made a historical merchant nation so economically impotent :)

As far as I know there is no difficulty requirement to the total war achievement
