I had never seen that before! After the King and the Faction Heir were killed in battle, the code sequence apparently determines the next logical candidate and plugs him in as the new King. But if, at the same time he is ALSO part of a defeated army that's slated for "melting away" (i.e. all are eliminated from the map), well, the new King is announced and then he disappears. Pretty sure there wasn't a subsequent "killed" message. And after a brief delay, a new box drops down, announcing the new king. Can't recall ever going through 4 different Faction Leaders in a single turn, either. Just one of many things that made this particular playtest such a good candidate for an AAR-type preview.
