Question about V&Vs

Example, an army leader of SlavicHorseArchers (Redux), doing the thing he is constructed for, firing arrows. If enemy flees without even getting into melee, such a leader gets "not so bold" or worse - for winning!

This sounds like the side the V/V was set for was "reversed", or a plus was shown as a minus ( or vice versa )? Or, perchance, the setting may be correct, but the program reverses it, so setting it incorrectly might therefore correct it ?! Just a thought !!
