Eeeeek (runs around in a decidedly unmanly but excited way)..
That is just the most beautiful thread title I have ever seen.
This can not be!
I have become accustomed to waiting for EB2: Total Wait!
The changes I'd be forced to make to my day to day life if EB2: Total Wait ever actually gets published is unacceptable!
Oh my God. This is awesome!!
I feel this is gonna be a long couple of months...
I'm going to do a little bit of shameless self promotion here: check out my Sweboz AAR for EB2 (alas discontinued)

I think its genius that you release EB2 just as school starts, so that you can destroy all of those college kids' grades by giving them EB2 to spend their time playing.
Swords don't kill people, people with swords kill people.
I think it's actually intended that college kids with a bit of a thing for history will be inspired for their studies (if relevant), but also for the rest of their lives' aspects, by what can be achieved through dedication, enthusiasm and quite a bit of work. :-0 (WOW)
I have been always somewhat against volunteer work seeing how most of the time it is exploited, but EB changed that a bit for me. I genuinely wanted to contribute to this project. And I am no kid... have not been for quite some time...

best news all year :)
I struggle with that terminology. When we release v.72 of EB1, THAT was a beta. It was buggy and crashed frequently. It was still fun, but the stability issues were frustrating. Not until v.74 (about 4-5 months later) were most of the worst CTDs tracked down and removed. That was a fairly complete game, but we still called it a beta as it was pre 1.0. Another 7 months go by and the team releases v.80. Huge improvements across the board, but randomly buggy and technically still a beta. Finally a few updates later, we released v1.0. Was that "finished"? Were all the bugs gone? No to both questions.
For me personally something is an alpha when it's not even playable...just a mess. A beta is full of bugs and likely to crash at any time. So where is EB2 in all this? We'll have 200 units out of a planned 500, so on that basis we're only 40% done. On the other hand the game hasn't crashed in MONTHS. So what is it? From my perspective, it's incomplete. And it will remain so for years to come, in all likelihood.
But will it be fun to play? Will it continue to be upgraded in various areas? Yes. So people should enjoy it for what it is, and help identify some things that can make it better. But it will not be a chore. It will be immersive and very interesting. The historical accuracy alone is breathtaking to me. Head and shoulders above what we did in EB1.
So people can call it anything they want, but we think you'll enjoy it.
"Numidia Delenda Est!"
Quite true, and we'll almost certainly call the first release a beta. I just wanted to go on record with my thoughts on this because when most people hear the word "beta", they expect a buggy, unstable product. That won't be the case here, although it will be obviously incomplete in several areas.
"Numidia Delenda Est!"
Damn. There goes my summer holiday.
<£600 holiday money diverted to new PC>
i am so happy right now :D:D:D
@Kull Wow. Here I thought that EB1 was impressive enough, and now you give us this. It seems that EB2 will be even more awesome than EB1 AND there will be fewer problems with CTDs even in the mod's early open beta stage. Great news.
INCOMPLETE. That is the key word you folks have to remember. EB1 has all the bases covered and EB2 is not there yet and won't be for some time. However, it has all the added benefits of the M2TW engine and we are working VERY hard to make is as immersive as possible upon the first release. That said it is remarkably stable for a 1st release product, and the team deserves a lot of kudos for that. Many months were spent in isolating and killing bugs that had been with us for years. And the worst ones were fiendishly difficult to track down.
"Numidia Delenda Est!"
To reinforce Kull's point - the fact that we are not currently experiencing any persistent CTD-causing bugs does not mean that there not any in there. It is impossible to test the game as thoroughly and to experience all possible permutations of different factors as would be the case after massive testing once the game goes public. We do have faith in our product, we trust that the community will enjoy it, BUT do not let the hype to get the better of you so that you won't be disappointed once you get to actually play the game yourself. The first release will hopefully by fun and enjoyable, but indeed an incomplete version of what are we aiming for...

Great NEws!!!!
Will this be playable on a Mac the same way EB1 is?
Good to hear that. What about the beta testers ? How to apply for that ?
Amazingly good news:) Congrats EB team!
In essence whoever plays the game in its first-release form (August 2014) will actually thereby become a beta-tester as long as he/she provides his feed-back and/or bug report.![]()
