According to the original readme, siege times were to be increased by the patch. However there is nothing about this in the official patch readme. Does anybody know whether or not they have increased?

Also I understood that sieging unit costs were to be increased to 3x by the patch. I seem to remember reading elsewhere that it is 2x for easier levels. However, playing Spain/Early/Hard I'm encountering costs of only 1.5x (I restarted the game to ensure it was Hard).

As an aside to the above, is there any way of checking the difficulty level of an existing game?

    Any help/comment appreciated.

The formular for working out the siege time has been changed, the siege time should be longer by a turn or two. 1.5X? I can't remember, maybe it 1.5 maybe 2, can't tell without seeing the code again.

Thanks for replying - I'll do a few tests to check the support costs.

Does that mean that the soldiers defeated in battle will be treated acording to their real number (the survivors), and not acording to their original number. I have experienced too many battles where I was defeated and only 50 men survived to retreat to the Citadel/High Castle and still the siege was set to 1 year.

Also I noticed something odd. I defeated the Itailians in Venice, but about 250 men got away. When I looked at the castle only 20 Peasants were there... It happened again when the Italians tried to sally. Again I won but this time there were some 40 Urban Militia where there should have been about 140 enemies.
Can the AI pick certain units to go to the castle? Or was it a little glitch?

Susex, the rest probably ran back to their closest province unless they were cut off from all retreat, then they would all end up in the castle.

could someone elighten me where the in the actual game information on increased upkeep for seiging troops is located.

all the information screens i have looked at so far only show normal upkeep for these units.

Have now checked sieging unit costs. They are level for easy and nomal difficulties, 1.5x for hard, and 2x for easy. Auto-resolving a siege still only results in minimal casulties and siege times have been increased only slightly.

IMO there is still no incentive to build siege engines and treat such battles seriously other than just for the fun of it (a big factor I'll admit).

I would like to see punative costs for besieging units for no other reason than to make this aspect of the game important.

    What do others think?
