Havent seen this mentioned but since this is such an active forum i could have missed it. forgive if its been noted.

several times i have seen the following happen.

normally all enemy units (unless concealed) show on the inset map as coloured blobs.

on 3 04 ocassions the map has gone completely blank. twice this resulted in the ai just sitting where it was and not doing anything. both time it was the attacker so i won whebn the clock ran out.

the other thing that happened in both of these battles was that i got so badly beat up in the initial encounter that i moved the reinforecement flag to a location far away from my initial troop deployment as almost all my units routed of the map. both times the ai stayed put at the place where the units had routed and just sat there.

both times the ai's units no longer were visible on the map inset.

    Whats up here? Ta

no idea why the normal map would just go suddenly blank. the radar map is not supposed to show units that are not in line of sight (los). by moving your reinforcement flag way off away from the battle, you may be causing the enemy to not be able to see your units. thus, it doesnt even know they are there, and thus, they wont attempt to fight something that they dont know exists.

    sorry not made myself clear

the normal map doesnt go blank it is the radar map which does.

and on both occasions i actually approached the enemy with units and it reacted with one or 2 units but only at the unit that i sent forward and when i retreated it ignored the rest of my troops which were in full view

Ok let's give it a try to narrow it down even further.
You were the defender, and your units came as reinforcements, yet the ai didn't react to them, right?
Usually, when the enemy units are outside the view they don't appear on the minimap, as Kraelin said. This also means that they probably can't see you either. Was this the case, or was it possible? For example, if you brought on a unit of hashishin. What does it mean that the troops were in the full view? Which units, approximately how close, was terrain clear and flat? What happened to the units that the enemy did react to, where did they go, did you retreat them toward your main army? Did the minimap change at all when your units got close to the enemy, or engaged them?

edit: Do you have any screenshots of the event? Can you make it happen again if you don't?

    Good questions

"What does it mean that the troops were in the full view?"

On both occasions I had my units deployed so that I could see the enemy units. The terrain on the first was Mountainous. the enemy was on a slope across the valley and i had taken a position opposite also on a slope.

"What happened to the units that the enemy did react to, where did they go, did you retreat them toward your main army?"
I retreated towards the main army and the enemy stopped showing any interest in them

The minimap did not change when we engaged

I have no screen shots (will try next time) I think I can
    make it happen by:

Starting a battle and allowing the first 16 units to get routed, moving the reinforcement flag to a completely different part of the battlefield and bringing on reinforcements once the enemy has settled into position.

However in the firstinstance I had troops left from the intial deployment and simply marched them away from the site of the first battle and the ai did not follow.

    Well

I had a chance to confirm this

I now have a screen shot and also a saved replay if anyone is interested in this phenomenon

the screen shot taken from next to my unit shows enemy troops a few hundred yrds away ignoring the last unit remaining 4 cavalry

I won the battle due to time running out

There is definitely something wrong here and woudl think the devs should take a lok at this
