Default Next DLC: a Greek Campaign

So this was recently found on steamdb!

Seems like there is some sort of expanded Greek campaign in the works, probably a Peloponnesian war campaign.

We will probably get an announcement soon about this. It looks exciting, I might actually get this one!

Hmmm, yeah I think you are right mate deffinately a greek campaign coming. I bet its going to unlock pergamon, massalia and cimmeria for grand campaign and they will give colchis as a flc. It a shame to see these locked from the mods really, i had a good campaign with massalia and i was looking forward to play as cimmeria. Now we will have to buy the dlc to play them.

Peloponnesian War seems too out of period.

Macedonian Wars would be more fitting with period & themes of other Campaigns.
I'm thinking Greece & (at least some of) Asia Minor but Rome off-map like in Caesar in Gaul.

I think would be a good addition.

Though now I look at the link, with Massilia, Cimmeria & Colchis that would be a significantly bigger map than I was thinking of.
And Boiotian League was ended by Philip so it does need to be older.

Plus peoples be likin' Corinthian helms, ninja Immortals & homo-erotic cartoon Spartans...

I mean, done properly it could be plenty awesome of course, just Peloponnesian War would be a big step out of period.
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...

Hmm, so prompted by a comment in the TWC thread on the topic I've been looking into Boiotian League a bit more (hardly exhaustive) & it seems that there is a more or less continuous political entity up till the Romans took over so the presence of this faction doesn't really mean it has to be Peloponnesian war.

Also Massilia, Cimmeria & Colchis being playable may be only on Grand Campaign so doesn't mean the map has to be that wide an area.

I'm picturing a map something like this

And I have to say, I'm getting pretty excited about it

If they put in Macedon wars in, I suspect conquest of Britain would soon follow.

Im a bit wary about all of this though, something tells me that we are just getting more factions, not a whole campaign.

Seems to be pretty explicitly indicating that there is Greek Campaign.

So there will be an announcement + live stream of the new free-LC and DLC today at 10am EST/3pm GMT:

    http://forums.totalwar.com/showthrea...79#post1251579

EDIT: seems like I was correct, at least for now. A new culture pack, the Black Sea factions (Cimmeria, Colchis and Pergamon), but Massalia will be free-LC. And if you pre-order you get 10% off the culture pack.

Um, correct me if I'm wrong, but how is Pergamon a Black Sea colony?

Cool, a faction pack. The opportunity to play the most boring TW game ever made from new starting locations on the map. Oooohh, please sign me up for that.

Did you honestly expect anything different? I would have loved a Greek campaign but that will probably never happen. Unless mods can figure a way to do it.

No, I'll be honest I didn't expect anything different. And so far I've liked the campaigns they've added more than the GC by a mile, so I'm content with the three I've got so far, I've enjoyed them. That said, I guess what I'm really hoping for still is a bit more patching, there are things that still need some tweaking. So the one thing for me that would make this new DLC interesting (cause it certainly isn't the content of the DLC itself) would be for it to release also with a patch.

A bit of a letdown from a Macedonian Wars campaign.
But Masalia & Cimmeria in particular should be interesting to play, Pergamon also.

Do hope for a patch as well.

And I think it doesn't preclude a future Macedonian Wars campaign.

Here's hoping for a viable and interesting Spartan roster with a removed max number of units.
The art of war, then, is governed by five constant
factors, to be taken into account in one's deliberations,
when seeking to determine the conditions obtaining in the field.

    These are: (1) The Moral Law; (2) Heaven; (3) Earth;
    (4) The Commander; (5) Method and discipline.

Well, there are plenty of mods out there which expand the Spartan roster, so I wouldnt hold my breath for another CA Spartan unit pack.

Second this: a patch fixing at least some of the glaring remaining bugs, such as

    - hitting an influence brick wall in GC at higher imperiums (especially with smaller cabinet factions)
    - allies being able to effectively block your armies in ambush stance
    - champions reducing zeal-based sabotage chance in hostile territories
    - spies blocking bridges
    - garrison units counting towards special unit limits
    - any remaining desyncs for MPC's
    - slide shows in siege battles where the AI is the opponent

Curiously enough, the thing I mentioned last is not a problem in H2H MPC where humans control both sides of the battle, so definitely an AI pathfinding issue, not GPU or even CPU.

    I can dream, can't I?

That aside, I look forward to trying Massilia and Cimmeria. Pergamon location looks interesting too.

So the DLC has been released, along with a new patch, though it doesnt seem to fix any of the problems you mentioned.

Hence my note about dreaming, LOL.

Will be interesting to see the new diplo AI (newly discovered factions not starting at neutral with the player). I guess, campaigns need to be restarted to see this.
