I meant to post this yesterday when the announcement was made but I was a tad busy. Anyways CA is releasing something called Chronicles to, well, chronicle your campaign as you go along. Seems like a pretty cool feature! Maybe we will see more AARs in the future.

Yeah, saw that, it does look pretty cool. Initially I thought it might make AARs rather superfluous, but on reflection perhaps not. To my mind, AAR threads are a creative storytelling exercise, for which a campaign provides the plot outline and some visual illustration. The "nuts and bolts" of the actual game campaign are somewhat secondary. I rather doubt that the Chronicles feature will quite serve to replace AARs, although could be quite useful to augment/amplify.

I think it will be a GREAT tool for documenting and following the action in a succession game!

On the whole, having more AARs would be really good.

It depends how well they're going to implement it, because the idea has potential. Many times I wanted to keep "memories" of my campaigns, because some of them were memorable.
Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.

    Been to:

Swords Made of Letters - 1938. The war is looming in France - and Alexandre Reythier does not have much time left to protect his country. A novel set before the war.

A Painted Shield of Honour - 1313. Templar Knights in France are in grave danger. Can they be saved?

I think they did a nice job with this. I particularly like the bit where the player can insert comments, providing a personalized narrative.

I find my previous opinion reinforced...this will be a great way to augment (not replace) an AAR thread, or just provide a tool to follow along in the campaign of someone who otherwise isn't doing an AAR.

Also I should mention that the review embargo ends on the 12th so we should be seeing reviews then.

Also if you pre-ordered it from Steam you should be able to pre-load it as of this post.
