Amber Markets Requiring Gems

In my current campagin, I've been building Amber Markets in most of my provinces. Returning after a week's absence from the game, I find that I'm missing a gem resource to build them. Was there a patch that added this as a requirement?

To answer my own question, this was because my trade partner lost the province with the gem resource.

I hate when they do that. I had marble from eastern rome until they fell to pieces between the visagoths and huns.

Took me a couple of campaigns before I figured out what the problem was!

Did you notice if there was any drop-off in the effects of the existing amber markets? I think they're safe once completed, but am not sure.

I wouldn't have noticed any change in income from the existing ones. I micro-manage and use Excel to plan my provinces, but I'm still not at the point of doing financial statements. :)
