This is a discussion to be had, clearly, and it's one that concerns a lot of existing Total War historical players who do not play the Warhammer saga. Pharaoh TW is not a fully fledged historical game, it's a Saga title, akin to Thronnes of Britannia.

That being said, the issues in CA recently (past 6 months) have caused some significant changes to the roadmap I presume. I stick to my initial assertion, we will not get a Shogun or a Medieval 1 remaster, at least any time soon. Remastering RTW was easier to do because of 3D gameplay, remastering MTW / STW is a 2D game and that will have it's own set of challenges. STW is 25 years old, MTW is 22 years old. It used to be easier to update 2D games, not any more, because 2D games are not that common any more and you are working with legacy software.

Swords Made of Letters - 1938. The war is looming in France - and Alexandre Reythier does not have much time left to protect his country. A novel set before the war.

A Painted Shield of Honour - 1313. Templar Knights in France are in grave danger. Can they be saved?

I was thinking earlier of Shogun 1, and reminded that the Warlord Edition exists. I'm tempted to add it to my (almost complete) physical collection of all historical Total War games, with their Collector's Edition as well.

Did the Warlord Edition add anything apart from the Mongol Invasion expansion pack?

Also, I found a mint / near perfect condition Warlord Edition PC box & game on eBay. Quite tempting.

My memory is quite foggy, but I do remember Warlord edition changed a lot of things in terms of unit balance. I preferred it and it was necessary to play online multiplayer (it was what everyone else was using at the time, and the balance was arguably better). If my memory serves, the original version could result in gigantic stacks of armies and battles sometimes took ages to conclude in single-player. I'd have to dig up the old threads--there was A LOT of debate about it back in the day. That being said, the vast majority of players were using Warlord Edition at the end of the original Shogun's glory days.

So it did have changes, interesting. I just purchased the Mongol Invasion expansion pack and never played the Warlord Edition. You learn new things every day, thank you Togakure.

I'm off to search for a pristine mint condition Warlord Edition.

I got Shogun TW for Xmas back in 2000. For the 25th anniversary of Shogun Total War, in 2025, I will be getting the Warlord Edition.

2 hours later... I bought a brand new, sealed box Warlord Edition from eBay. A 24 year old time capsule. Will take a whole month until I get it.

    Merry Xmas everyone!

    Enjoy :)

I'm sure you remember Puzz3D, also known as MizuYuuki. He, CBR, TosaInu and others actually contributed time working with CA about the unit stats for WE. There was a heck of a lot of debate back when people were still playing STW:WE online (2001-2004).The general opinion was that WE was better than the original for multiplayer (almost everyone who played online used WE) . But there was always some debate about the finer details.

But this shouldn't affect single-player campaigns much. IIRC, it did mitigate the problem with many, many stacks of armies building up by late game though.

Well, I guess I need to find a CD played then and find a way to play it, so I can see if the credits list our esteemed Orgahs in there (I hope they do, would be amazing to see their names) :)

Also purchased Rome 2 Total War Collectors Edition, which I never had, I guess eBay is good for finalising my TW collection. Once I get Warlord & Rome 2, I have every historical TW in physical, Collectors Edition format.
