I am. Just hoping they don't follow the trend of 'streamlining' things.
Apart from that concern things look really good in the previews. Greater customization will make for more attachment with soldiers and higher stakes. The whole guerrilla force fighting oppressive establishment scenario will be a nice change, although I don't really see how can they make obtaining resources any harder than it already was.
Not going to pre-order it though. Going to wait a week to see the reviews.
The horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.
I might pre-order this one, only do that on a couple games in any given year, this will likely be it.
After the abysmall state of Civ BE i'm not suire I'll preorder it, but I'll buy it as soon as I see a decent video reveiwing it. Looks really nice so far, and It's fully moddable.

I don't associate the two as they aren't the same team developing them.
Civ has been dead to me for awhile, it suffers from much the same problem as TW, the ideas that constitute the core game play have been exhausted, they have no new story to tell me.
Whereas XCOM is doing something new from the last game, we've flipped sides in effect. In the first game the aliens were invading earth, in this iteration the invasion succeeded, and humans are now the counter insurgency fighting to take earth back. And as you said, this time full mod support is in the package from day one.
The horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.
That sucks.![]()

Yeah, bit disappointing that, but I guess I'll just have to roll with it and hope they are putting the additional development time to use making sure the game is finished when they launch it.

Yep, pulled the trigger myself, got an email from GreenMan Gaming for it with a coupon for 23% off, figured it probably between now and release wouldn't get any cheaper than that so I went ahead as well.
Also reloaded XCOM to have another go through on Enemy Within, only played that one through once and there's a lot of new tech stuff I never researched and got to play with so figured, why not.
I'm playing Impossible/Ironman but I failed to truly ironman it out, i admit. I alt-f4 ed many times due to stupid mistakes. Got to the point where I have 6 snipers with plasma sniper rifles, 4 of them with mimetric skin. Can't lose now.

Sounds like you've got it pretty well wired for victory at this point then with four ghostly snipers! I'm not being nearly as hardcore (normal-ironman) as I'm just not that big a fan of the current rogue-like craze, just another game design passing fad far as I'm concerned, but having a great time like I mentioned above messing around with gene stuff and the mech stuff (I think they cluttered things up a bit too much with all the new grenades and stuff as there's still the same limited carrying ability and hell if I'm wasting my one slot on some random grenade rather than more armor or health).

You have to wade though some boring ass civ stuff, but it's worth it to see some new info on Xcom 2.

Might want to give some warning to those that want to see what's in store for them unspoiled as these recent videos are giving a good chunk of the surprise away imho...
I however don't mind and everything I've seen makes me want this game even more.![]()

Still, it comes out late Friday night Eu time, so I won't be able to play until Saturday.

Ready to roll. Oh hang on I need to update my MacBook while traveling on the train.
Definitely hoping for a good response.

I need a gruntier machine as it really is too low specs as it turns out.
Spend more time in load screens then anything else.
However it is the same XCOM and more as before. I got squad wiped in the second mission... the new taller redacted are a huge threat.
The standard grunts make you feel heroic. But you soon learn that this is still XCOM and that cover is king, and the non grunts can rapidly ruin your day if not handled properly.
Downloading right now... 20 mn to go...

"You did, sarge", said Polly." You said you were in few last stands."
"Yeah, lad. But I was holding the metal"

I need to stop trolling the game and get down to finishing it...

I was a little complacent and came very close to a total game failure. I wasn't paying too much attention and something snuck up on me, and before I knew it, I was in a life-or-death mission and the game was going "Know that people who lost half their torso? Throw them in battle, you are going to DIE, son!"
Luckily, I sent one of my soldiers on a YOLO mission, and they succeeded, whilst the other held down the fort. Managed to get them back alive too. Crispy, but alive.

Finished it! Well, that was definitely a stretch and a half. Game was falling apart on the last level, managed to save it so I could reboot it, as I didn't want to redo the entire level, virtually.

I'm playing Legend/Ironman and have had to restart twice due to the timed VIP rescue mission but now it's been good so far. And when I say ironman, i mean I will alt+f4 if I get really bullshit results like ranger missing a melee attack, followed by my sniper missing a flanking shot at 86% or some such.

I'm enjoying this one immensely, probably in late May as I recall. Just finished a mission where we got downed by a UFO, what followed was probably one of the best missions I've played in either Xcom, it was good fun ambushing endless waves of aliens. Oh, and just to spice it up, I jacked one of the commanders and introduced a codex into the mix. With the timer running down to two to evac but still wanting to complete whatever is tied to the codex thread I left a support behind basically to finish off the codex and give everyone else a chance to get out.
Having a blast with this one!
I'm liking the modified weapons. I just wish they could be stored in the armory after accidentally selecting the base weapon and overwriting my modified one. Would be nice for hand me downs and/or modified rookie rifles.
I'm not sure if the free reload is working as intended.
Maybe I'm missing something or it is a future mod to do that.
I'd also love to have secondary weapon mods.
