I was a little complacent and came very close to a total game failure. I wasn't paying too much attention and something snuck up on me, and before I knew it, I was in a life-or-death mission and the game was going "Know that people who lost half their torso? Throw them in battle, you are going to DIE, son!"
Luckily, I sent one of my soldiers on a YOLO mission, and they succeeded, whilst the other held down the fort. Managed to get them back alive too. Crispy, but alive.

Finished it! Well, that was definitely a stretch and a half. Game was falling apart on the last level, managed to save it so I could reboot it, as I didn't want to redo the entire level, virtually.

I'm playing Legend/Ironman and have had to restart twice due to the timed VIP rescue mission but now it's been good so far. And when I say ironman, i mean I will alt+f4 if I get really bullshit results like ranger missing a melee attack, followed by my sniper missing a flanking shot at 86% or some such.

I'm enjoying this one immensely, probably in late May as I recall. Just finished a mission where we got downed by a UFO, what followed was probably one of the best missions I've played in either Xcom, it was good fun ambushing endless waves of aliens. Oh, and just to spice it up, I jacked one of the commanders and introduced a codex into the mix. With the timer running down to two to evac but still wanting to complete whatever is tied to the codex thread I left a support behind basically to finish off the codex and give everyone else a chance to get out.
Having a blast with this one!
I'm liking the modified weapons. I just wish they could be stored in the armory after accidentally selecting the base weapon and overwriting my modified one. Would be nice for hand me downs and/or modified rookie rifles.
I'm not sure if the free reload is working as intended.
Maybe I'm missing something or it is a future mod to do that.
I'd also love to have secondary weapon mods.
Free reload works just fine, but I'd much preffer it to be an activatable ability instead of "first two reloads are free" since if I don't pay attention I end up using up free reloads in non-combat turns.
Free reload is only ever useful on snipers though since now in XCOM 2 reloading no longer ends your turn, so you can reload and shoot in the same turn, unless you need both actions to shoot (like in the case of snipers).
