    Default 147 Dead in Kenya

    http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/02/africa...ersity-attack/

These Westerners need to look inward and think about what they did to cause this.
There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

This was back in April, but the point is correct. A terror attack in the West is not expected. Sadly, a terror attack in Africa is, hence the response is not the same.

There are enough bad things that happen daily to have 24 hour news a day that never repeats.

Kenya is a long way away. I'm far less concerned about what happens there than I am in Paris.

I double dare anyone to try and empathize with all the misery in the world. You won't last a yoctosecond before going crazy.

I'm not convinced that is the point which the OP is trying to make.

I'm surprised the guilt shaming brigade hasnt shown up yet to disparage people for not bursting into tears over every sad bit of news.
Being better than the worst does not inherently make you good. But being better than the rest lets you brag.

I can appreciate another man willing to admit it.

You must be one of those depression junkies. There (still) is plenty of room under the Sun & Moon for everyone.

I am no depression junkie, a Disney-movie can make me break out in tears, it's just easy to upset me. I really don't want to think about how this must have looked like

This event was discussed quite a bit on BBC. Just depends on where you get your news from, which region you have it set to and also what your search engine predicts you are interested in and hence filters out the rest...
