Thread: Mafia v. Cult [Concluded]

I'll even open notebook what I was doing today

1) Legit surprised I have not been nightkilled or converted, and I have no protection against either.
2) Hardclaimed that, because that cuts off my balls if I'm a mafioso, and the odds were good that I would get votes today. So that's me playing against my own mafia meta.
3) I need cult dead so I don't become cult. That said
4) If I do become cult, it's not that big of a deal, because a lynch on a townie today and a townie murdered tonight makes for decent endgame chances for me regardless.
5) Although I've been playing townie, there's still little reason for either cult or mafia to vote with me today, and my town is probably awol, playing bad, or simply one of GH or Visorslash. In any of those cases, I do want to get someone I want lynched to be voted, but on the other hand I probably don't, because the greatest likelihood I get someone I want lynched today is if I'm voting incorrectly.
6) That said I didn't anticipate no activity at all when I voted Sooh. I think that's a counter-example.
7) I have to be a boss and pick a townie to sheep today, rather than lead.
8) Golden1Knight is clearly guilty at this point. Check out his game all game and then check out his reaction to GH and I voting him and the timing of it. Indicates to me he's just been hiding out all game and abusing his meta that he's a low-talker.

That's everything in my brain about this game.

There's not much more than that because you work too hard, you just get converted to cult, and then you've been working hard to eliminate your own team.

You work too hard and miss, and scums and cultists alike follow you and it's just dead townies.

It's almost like a chinese finger trap, the harder you struggle the worse your game is.

Here, it's as simple as sheeping GH on someone who wasn't posting.

It's your best chance of success if you're a mafioso and Golden is cult, if you're cult and Golden is mafioso, or if you're a convertible villager.

If that's wrong let me know.

Number 4 is bad for me to say since it hurts my survival chances tomorrow (or even today)

But I am being 100 percent open notebook. That's part of my strategery and I'd be lying if it wasn't.

Need to eliminate cult approximately right now, or never eliminate them.

This is the most intelligent wrong post I've seen in many games.

I can die to that and I won't even fight it. Like I legit won't vote my counter-wagon if this is what lynches me.

It's not correct but it's impressive.

So I have gut feelings about both Raith and Al Sipsclar that I was hoping to be able to work with today and see if there's a case on either (or both) especially considering the Jarrema wagon looks exactly like the Khaan one yesterday and I don't feel super comfortable with the alternative either. But I think this is the only opportunity I'm going to have to post at all today. Anyways, the post I quoted definitely looks like it's coming from a mafia perspective so vote vote: Al Sips and I'd like to say more but if I do I'll be late for class.

I think so, he's strongly cult-hunting and I should have been converted by now so it's a good assumption either way.

But that means he's not cult. I want cult dead today.

Pelican please don't be cult here

Otherwise this endgame is lacking a ton of mystery and I lose all of those endgames regardless what happens next.

Actually now I'm having second thoughts. Can someone not busy with work (sorry) go back through... Snake Cult I think it was and check to see how Golden reacted when he was pressured in that one? Might actually be similar to this.

If it wasn't Snake Cult it was khaan's game.

It's not villagery, at best it's null regardless of who he is. He simply jumped on the opposing wagon and said nothing.

That's never an example of a villager tell, it's precisely null or scummy.

Scummy in this case because of this particular situation being one where he needs to do more to solve the game than a lazy self-pres vote and his voting timing is either null or a reaction to you voting him and me voting him as opposed to hunting.

Csargo doesn't have tells because he doesn't post much.

However, no one wants him dead, and if he were a townie he'd be an even bigger sitting duck target than Golden1Knight. All the fake suspicion would be in this thread right now, or at least one person.

Instead it's a bunch of people forgetting he's in the game and scums not wanting him lynched.

Al sips mafia

Csargo mafia (or cult, easily)

Golden1Knight cult hopefully

Fingers crossed on that last one.

Even if all of those three are mafia/cult we still won't win though, unless the cult dies today. Because cult will win, or it will become a chaotic three way mess and town will only win by dumb luck.

Oh, yeah, that elusive "townie line of thinking" again that I'm consistently fail to demonstrate. For some reason, only scum is always accusing me of this. I guess this is another case of "he who smelt it, dealt it". Unvote; Vote: Pelican

Pizza is cult
Raith is with Pizza
Visor has been just converted
GH is mafia
Sooh is still town
Choxorn is either scum
Cuth is scum
Jarema is scum
Zain is town
G1K, Csargo, SV are Olympic-grade lurkers. If Bruce Springsteen had ever recorded “Born to Lurk,” these two three would have been on the album cover.

Close, but not quite. Pizza's just easy to follow with his charisma and ability to parrot decent advice. I'm town till lynch or night kill ends my career.

Role Declaration: I am unconvertible Town.

This is sort of pro-mafia as a move, since they know I'm not bullet proof, but I at least agree that cult is more of a headache currently. I'm also willing to be lynched later on since this is good mafia claim to make I'll admit. If you think I'm a cultist making this, well, not a lot I can do to change your mind, but at least this puts a bit of info out there.

Basically in my eyes he could be anything, and I have no idea with the activity and the posting style on this board how I'm supposed to figure it out.

I would appreciate pointers.
Me too.

See, I don't quite believe this one Piz. As my talk a week ago with a friend told me, town loves to kill the same old. Leaving a statesman alive as a distraction is just good business to waste a lynch. You've got to have seen this in action before.

Golden is a lurker in the shadows. He sits and votes. He's very friendly, but he's not an analytical type. When pressed, he panics and tries desperately to claim town. He really really hates being lynched or dying at all. I lynched him that game because well, that's a scummy attitude. If he's giving next to no reaction when under mad contention, it's a big change for his meta. Either thanks to your's truly (I kid, kinda), or because he's influenced by other teammates.

Believable claim IMHO. In a game with this level of activity Raith didn't need to fakeclaim.

For those interested, yes, that was a lazy vote of self-preservation :P

My lack of response so far is not due to a change in my meta, but simply to lack of time. My participation in this game is very low, even by my standards, something for which I apologize, but this situation will soon improve. Also,

Are you referring to another game or something? I don't think I said anything to that effect. I'll clarify:

Raith, whom Pizza was robo-voting days before, is another cultist.
Bolded section looks like it's coming from a mafia point of view. I don't see how one of someone's primary concerns if they're town is that Pizza is trying to get the mafia to out themselves. I'm pretty sure that's something that a member of the mafia keys in on way more.

In light of Raith's last post, I'm not sure if I think he's Al's mafia partner or not. Like it looks like someone posted "I'm gonna go after Pelican in the maf QT. Maybe this is just me being biased due to OMGUS though, also concerned about confirmation bias, it comes through in the language of my other post today, if I'm being honest with myself (Wanting to see if I can find a case on people I already suspect potentially leads me to bad conclusions/tunneling, idk). I don't get why he claims right now either way though. It certainly doesn't help us beat cult if it's true, since it reduces the risk of their wasting a conversion on Raith.

But if either/both of these guys is/are scum, they're mafia. Wagon on Jarrema is still easy and obvious and I don't foresee it producing results. Landlubber still looks like he's flying under the radar to me. No post in this game is more than two sentences, and I think the reason he specifically comes to mind is that I've seen him participate in lengthy exchanges, so it looks like he's hiding. However, this post:
Originally Posted by landlubber:

probably means he's not cult. Visor looks okay in this exchange too.

Cuthilius disappeared after day one, and no one has even mentioned him I don't think? Slight cult lean, maybe? "Under the radar" does not seem like his style from what I'm familiar with, but I smell a possible convert...

Choxorn is null, G1K is null, SV is null, Csargo is null, Zain is null...It honestly could be any of these, none of them have high enough volume/meaty enough posts for me to make meaningful conclusions about them. I could join the G1K wagon I guess, but it would feel like playing Russia Roulette...

I'd honestly still just rather go after Al though. Even if it's not cult, at least that's a scum lean I have some confidence in. I can see why lynching cult is a priority, but lynching scum is still a priority over not lynching scum, IMO.
