There will be two factions, town and mafia.
There will be no recruitment, forced or otherwise.
There will be no unusual role PMs, such as jesters. If you get a power role, it will be fairly normal stuff.
Your win conditions will be known, normal, and straightforward.
The gimmick here will be....
Representative Democracy!!!
It's a really, really bad idea. But I'm going to go with it anyway if I get enough people. Ideally we should get about 20 people or more, otherwise the concept doesn't really work.
The players will be randomized into an odd number of districts.
Each district will elect a representative, and only that representative will actually vote in a manner that matters when it comes to the lynch.
The rule for districts is that the largest-sized district cannot have two or more people more than the smallest-sized district, so all districts will be of the same approximate size, off by a maximum of 1 person.
As people die off, the districts may need to be re-drawn.
At game start, there will be a special election for "Chancellor-for-life".
Only the Chancellor can re-draw districts.
If the Chancellor dies, a special election for the new Chancellor will happen.
Whenever the size difference between districts becomes 2 or more, the Chancellor will decide who goes in what district.
Districts have a minimum size of 3 people.
Districts can be as large as you like, but there must always be 3 or more districts, and there must always be an odd-number of districts.
District voting ends when there are 8 players or fewer, because at that point, there would be either one district, or an even number of districts, or districts would end up with 2 people or 1 person.
If the voters in a district tie, they will not have a representative that round.
If the district representatives' lynch vote ends in a tie, the Chancellor decides between the tied candidates, and someone will be lynched anyway.
Example-Sample game:
Askthepizzaguy is the outgoing Chancellor-for-life. He died while in office. He had randomly drawn the districts like this:
D1: Khaan has been elected Chancellor-for-life
D1: Shad was lynched, because he hasn't been mislynched enough, in my opinion
N1: Johnhughthom was murdered, for a change of pace.
D2: District 5 now only has 3 people in it. The districts will be redrawn by Khaan. He draws them like this for shits and giggles:
D2: Visor was lynched, because loltown
N2: Snerk was murdered, for being snarky
D3: The districts are the same size, no redrawing needed.
D3: NAC was lynched, because lolNAC
N3: Winston was murdered, for being the fairest of them all
D4: District Three now has too few people. The districts will be redrawn by Khaan. Now they look like this, because he was drunk:
D4: People don't like the way khaan drew the districts, and he was successfully lynched!
N4: Sooh was murdered, because she was actually even fairer than them all, but was too humble about it to tell you.
D5: The districts don't need to be redrawn yet, but Dp101 was elected Chancellor-for-life because he's such an obvious townie.
D5: atheotes was lynched, because it's fun to lynch atheotes. Where is your lack of god now, atheotes?
N5: Generalhankerchief was murdered, because you can use him to wipe the blood off the knife you just stabbed him with. Convenient!
D6: Dp101 was forced to redraw the districts again, because District Four is too small. He decided to shuffle people around, because he's secretly evil. Now they look like this:
D6: Barto was lynched, because he was slacking off and an easy lynch target.
N6: Zack was murdered, because why the hell wasn't he murdered sooner? lol mafia.
D7: Spaceman was lynched, because he's team rocket and he needed to blast off again.
N7: Al Sips was murdered, because reasons.
D8: It was a three-way tie between Quat, Monty, and Renata for the lynch. Chancellor-for-life Dp101 chose to lynch Monty. Lol Monty.
N8: Chancellor-for-life dp101 was murdered, because how dare he lynch Monty.
D9: Renata is elected Chancellor-for-life, to break ties, since this is the last time district-based representative voting occurs.
D9: Scarlett was lynched, because poor Alette never catches a break.
N9: Novice was murdered, because he sniffs out the bullshit.
D10: Districts no longer happen. Direct voting happens. Renata retains tiebreaking power.
D10: Renata is lynched due to rampant paranoia. Loltown. No Chancellor exists anymore and none will be elected due to lack of districts.
N10: Newyn is tarred and re-feathered.
D11: Choxorn is lynched, because he's choxorn.
Mafia wins! Congratulations Monty, Reidquat and BSmith, for winning a fictional example game I pulled out of my butt.
Why the gimmick? Because it gives the mafia opportunities to become Chancellor and create unrepresentative results, possibly. Or maybe to give a decent scum hunter a chance to lynch scums without needing consensus. Who knows? I'm evil and I want to prove how amazing representative democracy is for the average voter.
