civ 5 was pretty solid with both expansions I think

I expect 6 will be the same way, though I also foolishly bought it on release like you

GalCiv 3 has been my jam lately. It's almost hard to go back to CIV 5 after that. But, it should also be 1UPT, in my opinion. And only maybe make an exception for fleets.

my problem with 1upt is that it makes the AI even more atrocious at warfare

If you have some spare dinero, give GalCiv3 a shot. It's probably similar enough to the other dogs that you will enjoy yourself. An added feature is the starship designer, whether you are feeling creative or just want the same ship with lasers instead of missles.

A kid at my chess camp grabbed his queen and deliberately put the opponent's king in stalemate. He even said "stalemate" as he did it. He was really proud, he knew what stalemate was. This could end up like that.

This reminds me of Kiril Georgiev (your favorite Georgiev), who got the world record for most simultaneous chess games played. 360 games played at once over 14 hours. Man, if I did a 360 I'd be going in circles by the end.

I'm wary of being affected by pizza's mystical bit, but reading Logic's ISO suggests an underlying sense of control that wasn't there in previous games.

Feels like Fredwood's playing 72/24, while GH is looking to eod.
