JWST will allow us to "see" the infrared signs of early proto-galaxies. However, don't expect dazzling visible light images like the "Finger of God" picture that was possible with Hubble. The cold hard data will be incredibly important and one of a kind, but like LIGO's audio of two black holes merging, the public probably will ask where the $9 billion went. Astounding visible light images may get a rebirth if the Hawaiian gods ever allow us to build Extremely Large Telescopes on their sacred mountain tops. :)
