This sounds like interesting news.

It would be nice to have a LOTRO Total war, and it could span over the various conflict eras of Grand conflicts, so more fitting to have Middle Earth Total War.

This could be the next Fantasy Title or series of titles. Albeit I also feel that Warhammer Universe (the next best thing after Middle earth in terms of Lore etc) still has much to offer.

If only CA would hire King Kong to translate Third Age into a modern version of the game
Literally Third Age (& addons like leo.civil.uefs unofficial patch) is an almost perfect implementation of LoTR into TW engine

I was just thinking as well Expansions and DLC could be done on the first and second ages.

I think its pretty likely that part of the Warhammer contract would prevent CA from either ever doing other Fantasy or exclude it for a very long time.
