I've heard rumours that RTW will use the Massive software engine which drives the battle scenes in LTR FOTR and Two Towers but this has not been confirmed by the dev's. A license for Massive costs £25,000 and I guess this may be affordable to a developer such as CA. Question is, would the generated battles run on current high end PCs and graphics cards or are they too CPU/ memory demanding. If RTW is using Massive, then on the evidence of current screenshots it doesn't look like it. The individual soldiers generated by massive seem to have much better AI and randomisation. RTW still has very regular formations and the formations move in a similar few set movements drawn from motion-capture technology. I would say RTW is not using Massive at the moment, but maybe they should get hold of one of those licenses. Would the dev's care to comment ?
