You can change the map colors by going to the Settings and changing the Vibrancy slider. I have it set to 50%
Campaign map in the original looked really.. bland.

Agree. Try the slider to tone things down. I also like the more subdued unit colors setting as it gives you a less cartoony look.

I kind of echo @hoom's comments, I was not a fan of RTW in the beginning. I loved the atmosphere and also being it rather groundbreaking back in 2004, I was really into the game in itself as an idea.

However it was too bugged out and the economy numbers not showing up properly was very disappointing. (before patches)

Max 500 units... 31 factions max...
I don't understand why so many people fell for this lie again...

    Stock RTW was pretty shit.
Buggy as heck & really poor historicity.
RTW has a 94% rating on Steam, while R2TW has a rating of 83%.

More likely explanations are the fact that remasters will probably not generate the same excitement as new games, and that maybe the exact way the remaster was done did not align optimally with what potential buyers wanted in an RTW remaster.

I think RTW's very high rating is because it's fully patched and working on new systems + nostalgia.

When RTW was released... it got a lot of flak even here on TW Org.

I remember EVERY TW game had it's share of detractors.

I doubt that many people who disliked RTW will leave positive reviews on Steam out of nostalgia.

Even if a significant fraction of those who first played one or both of the previous Total War titles disliked RTW, big numbers of new TW players could still mean that veteran TW players with a net negative opinion would be outnumbered more than nine to one.

Gudea TW reviews RTR. And, IMO even the old textures look great. Can't wait to see the new stuff.

Its a good sign for mods if they've been able to quickly port in existing RTW mod models/textures with apparently minimal effort like that.

It is good, however I do feel like they arent quite up to the same quality as the textures from the remaster so I hope they are just placeholders. I personally am putting the remaster on hold as I wait for a more fully fleshed out version to come out.

The RSR devs have confirmed that these are indeed placeholders to get the mod up and running as Feral has promised them more info (and tools?) in the near future so they can update everything.

Oh man, if they can fix some of the city pathfinding & stuff like Phalangite forming/reforming especially around gates/town-centres that'd be massive.

Playing Antigonids in RTRVII I'm getting severely frustrated at the large wasteful losses I'm suffering due to phalangites being nearly impossible to form up if they're slightly crossing the town-square border
They got this much better in Rome2.

I mean, I could just use Hoplites/Hypaspists/Thureophori to do the town-square mop-up but they're getting pretty beat-up capturing the walls already (I pretty much always do 1*Tower 1*ladder assaults which means a decent length fight on walls) so I've been trying to split endurance/losses/experience gain & formed up pikes are so good on streets.

Im definitely interested to see what further modding functionality will be made available. Ive put my playing on hold due to the pathfinding issues but also wanting a more fleshed out overhaul mod.

Doesnt bode well for further remasters sadly. I think people who purchased the remaster fall into one of three categories: people who bought it for the nostalgia, people who bought it to see what could be done modding-wise (where I fall), and people who never played the original but want to see what the hype is. So likely the only people still playing at the moment are from the first group, with the second group biding their time and the third group iffy, with some enjoying it and others not getting the hype (though that goes for the first group too).

Are there any news about the hardcoded limits?

I heard it is 31 factions but only 28 are appearing on the menu screen. Is there info about the maximum number of region or of units?

I heard the 31 number too. I think its up to the modders to actually implement it though so we will see what they do.

We're a bit at a conundrum right now, since RTW has done rather... well, not so well. And with the new announcements receiving a straight up panning from the community, I'm really not excited about the historical future.

Historical games' future I mean. I think we're stuck with the classics... and that's kinda it.

Yeah, the sad thing is that the historical fans are being slowly choked out by the Warhammer fans. Going on the Totalwar subreddit right now, 19/25 of the posts on the first page are about Warhammer, so from CA's point of view its easy to see where the wind is blowing.

I bought the game, I bought a specially SSD drive to install Windows 10, as a result, the game still does not start on my Core 2 Quad, I have to wait for the purchase of a new computer.
Hopes for Remaster are very high, from all that I got carried away now with the old original game Rome: Total War and create RTW / M2TW modding programs that could work with all three games. However, the pre-rendered map spoils everything, hopes can be dashed if Feral does not release the toolkit for its generation. This kills all modding under the remaster, unfortunately.

    My question:
Any news about the hardcoded limitations of Rome Remastered? I heard a slight increase in factions but nothing else.
    Edwin's answer from Feral:
Just to clarify most of these aren't hardcoded limits but engine limits. It's not a matter of editing a single number to make it bigger (that would be much easier) but rewriting sections of the game engine to support larger amounts which is a lot more complex.

We have previously confirmed we'll be increasing limits of a number these game engine limits where feasible. It's been confirmed that Factions will be increased to 31 (50% over the original) and regions will be raised significantly. However some of these like Factions in particular will require some significant effort before being released as the changes are far reaching and touch large parts of the game.
