Thread: RTW-R Formation Keeping?

  1. #1

    Default RTW-R Formation Keeping?

I really haven't played since R2TW which I didn't really liked so I stopped years ago.

    Here is the situation:
    - I am the attacker
    - I group my units by type
    - Drop and drag into the desired lines/length
    - Range them 3 "ranks" deep (Hastati 1st line, missiles 2nd line, cavalry 3rd line on the wings)
    - Hit "Start Battle"
    - Then Ctrl+A to select all units and right click at a spot in the center of my force about 1/2 way to the enemy line

    - What I want to happen = All units move up MAINTAINING RANKS/SPACING.
    - What actually happens = All units resort themselves into ONE SINGLE LINE to advance to that spot.

    $$%^^& WTF?

    What am I missing here?

    Have you locked the formation?
When you group your units there is a small lock sign in the bottom right corner of the group screen.
Press it and it will then lock the formation you were using.

Another option is to use Alt + holds left click and move the entire formation forward this way.

You were right. It was Alt+Left Mouse drag.

Kinda odd that it wasn't right click but no biggie.
