    Default Battlefield 6

Modern warfare, or the future of it, is apparently coming up in the next instalment of Battlefield - the upcoming Battlefield6. They're focusing on the near future modern warfare so I guess we can expect an upgraded BF4 (or BF3 for those, like me, who prefer the older one) to hit the stores by the end of the year.

Expecting an official reveal trailer on June 2021 for this one.

    Planning on a purchase?

    Im conflicted about this.

On one hand its good ol' Battlefield ridiculousness but at the same time I think the specialist system kinda seems like it will mess up what made the BF series great to begin with.

I was really hoping it would be a remake of BF2142 because the Titan game mode was really something special.

Looks super intense, especially those storms. I wonder if they got inspiration from Fortnite in some way.

    Some more info about this.

Esentially 2042 is a mix of modern warfare and near-future combination, with wing suits, drones, tanks and the usual hubbub of BF. Looks very cool but personally... ehhh, I'm not that excited. I want to see the release and the launch, BF 5 was a total disaster.

Going through the specialists, it really makes me feel like they are gunning for Rainbow 6 Siege with the characters that are from various countries and specialties. Not to mention things like gun charms and special skins, though that might have been in previous BF versions too and I just havent been following. Still cautiously optimistic and I do wonder if Ill be able to run this game well.

Special skins were in BF4 and they were quite popular, because customisation in the game was quite special. Not Tarkov level, that's military simulation level, but still in depth and a major improvement over BF3.

I'm optimistic, BF3 is one of my favourite games of all time, so let's see.

I have hundreds of hours in BF3. Was never very good at it but I loved it. Wanted to get into BF4 but my computer couldnt handle it at the time. I wonder if people are still playing BF4? The premium edition is only $8 which is a steal if people are still playing.

EA had to recently pour more resources into BF4 because so many people are playing!

Server after server, full... you can't find a match essentially.

    DLC matching?

I tried to play again since I got a free copy with Prime gaming but it just reminded me that locking content behind DLC is incredibly stupid. I couldn’t do any quickmatch because I don’t own any of the dlc and I need them to play...I knew that that free copy was too good to be true.

Yeah I can get on matches much easier now, but quickmatch still seems to be broken. Been having quite a lot of fun though!

After playing for a few days I think my biggest frustration is the netcode. I heard that BF4's netcode is notoriously buggy and it shows, even on a strong connection where Im averaging a ping of 30. Definitely a point of frustration, but as long as those issues are ironed out for BF6, I will be more than happy to jump in. I have forgotten how much fun and chaotic a modern Battlefield game can be. My big question now is whether or not my PC can handle it, as they havent released system requirements yet to my knowledge.

You remind me of the errors in my favourite game, Day of Defeat: Source. Splendid game, on the Source platform, released back in 2005... with a disastrous hit box registry. You would score shots, they would show up on the model, but they would not register.

    Horrendous.

    So this looks absolutely bonkers:

A bit more info. Hoping that they add 2142 into the mix at some point, it was the game that really got me into the Battlefield series in the first place and its definitely underrated. Would love for the Titan mode to come back too!

Seems like they are leaning into the silly fun aspect to the game without being cosmetically silly. Though seeing a defib vs knife battle would be absolutely hilarious.

Alrighty, this seems to be actually quite cool overall. A bit too modern but hey, it's 21 years in the future.

The gameplay itself looks alright, though I will say that the specialist system clearly needs to be reworked so that you can visually differentiate between the two teams. Right now its impossible to tell without the HUD. No idea how the devs didnt think this would be an issue.

Also I dont like the ability to pick up other kits, like whats the role of ammo boxes and whatnot if you can just pick up another kit and get a full loadout of ammo?

Full editions of Battlefields 4, One, and 5 are bundled for $11 on Steam. Honestly quite a good deal for anyone who wants to get into Battlefield for some reason.

I've played the BETA a bit, it was an interesting experience. Nothing that really amazed me, also a lot of bugs, but it was a fun experience.

I also recently played for the first time BF 5 multiplayer, after refusing to buy it because of the whole debacle at the beginning, and I really enjoyed the experience.

What were your thoughts about the specialists? One of my friends played the beta (I couldnt as I didnt preorder) and he really disliked it because he felt like it was trying to hard to be COD and not a Battlefield game. No teamwork, everyone running around doing whatever they wanted, just trying to get the best k/d ratio. Perhaps the portal mode would work well but personally I cant see myself enjoying the game otherwise.

This is actually a good point - the Battlefield Portal option allows you to play BF2042 on older maps, like BF1942 or BF3 even. So for some BF3 mega fans like me, it's actually a very nice deal.
