Not yet officially confirmed (probably in the next hour), but Southend MP David Amess was killed in a knife attack at his constituency surgery.
RIP to the MP. Seems like a good bloke too according to what the news was saying today.

WTF. Southend, the constituency of the MP, is to be given city status in his honour. Other than Tory angling for political gain, I'm not sure how it merits that status.
