I was thinking about what direction TW games could take after RTW, and I had the crazy idea that maybe a Stalingrad game could work. You could fight over the tractor factories, train station, .etc. I feel that it would be radically different to other TW games, due to the smaller battles and emphasis on building to building fighting(CA would have to come up with a new fighting system to make BtoB work). There would also be the possibility of tanks. TANKS Rather than playing different nations, as there were only 4(Hungarians, Romanians, Germans and Russians)you could play different units in different parts of the city, with different objectives. These could replace GA's. You would also have to set up supply lines from your back areas to the front, to enable your units to continue fighting. Due to the difference between this and other TW games, maybe it could be released as an addon to a general WW2:TW game, rather than as a standalone. Opinions?

No Let's not go there. It would be just like all those other silly RTSs you see everywhere. Mass produce tanks, group and fling at the enemy. Mine something or other. Yuk. Command and Conquer was nice, if you like that kind of thing, but the beauty of Total War is that I can kid myself I'm playing a historical wargame. For that, I think the Total War series has to be confined to wars where there were proper battles, with formed ranks of troops and encounters were decisive. I can just about see the model coping with Napoleonics or even ACW, but much beyond that, I can't see it.

PS: Sorry to be over-emphatic - I'm not flaming you, Big King, just my opinion which does not matter a hoot, one way or the other.
