    Viking Invasion FAQ
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q1. So why should we be excited about Medieval: Viking Invasion?

A1. Vikings And Saxons And... and... all the other new factions in the new Viking era campaign. An entirely new campaign set in Britain in the Dark Ages (with 8 very different factions on a new map), loads of cool new troop types for both VI and M:TW and some new playable factions/weapons for the main game.

    Q2. When is it out?
    A2.Odin willing, we're aiming for a May 2nd release.

Q3. There are already plenty of cool mods available from the online community, why should I but this?

A3. You should buy it if you liked the original game and want more of the same. The mods are all very good, but they don't have the ability to get inside the game in the same way as the original developers and produce something as new and exciting as Viking Invasion (but still check out the mods, as they rock).

Q4. Will the spec be different from Medieval?

A4. No, if your machine will play Medieval: Total War, it'll still play the game when you've got the expansion pack.

Q5. What extra playable factions are there?

A5. 11 in all: 8 from the Viking era campaign - the Vikings themselves, plus Saxons, Mercians, Welsh, Northumbrians, Picts, Scots and Irish; three in the original game - the Hungarians, Sicilians and Aragonese.

Q6. Will there be any different game modes?

A6. No, but all aspects of the game have been added to with new options. The Viking Invasion is an entirely separate map set in a different period and the original game has 3 new playable factions.

Q7. Can you play past the fall of Constantinople. If not, why?

A7. 1453 marks the end of the late medieval period in many ways: the fall of Constantinople marked the end of the Roman Empire (no, really) and marked the end of crusading to save Christendom in the East. In the West the English finally admitted defeat in the 100 Years War and went home. In Italy, the Renaissance was about to start, and this marks the next "era" of European history. We could have extended the game in this direction, but felt that giving players a new map and a completely new "feel" to the game was a better use of our time. Hopefully, they'll agree

Q8. Will there be a combined pack like The Warlord Edition (Medieval: Total War + Viking Invasion).

A8. Maybe. That depends on our publishers. Keep an eye on www.totalwar.com for updates.

Q9. Why do the Vikings have horned helmets when every one knows this is just a Victorian myth.

A9. The "horny Vikings" issue is one that has come up all the way through development. No, real Vikings never had horns, but the "Hollywood reality" effect has kicked in and people kind of expect at least a bit of horn when you mention Vikings. Horned helmets appear on the box cover and one unit is shown with horns in the game, but they are such a fearsome mob - the JomsVikings - that no one is going to criticize their dress sense and taste in horns and live

Q10. Medieval was so addictive it nearly cost me my marriage, will the add-on pack wreck it beyond salvation?

A10. Well, be prepared to invest in flowers, chocolates and other acts of devotion if you do start playing. We also strongly advise against the screaming of the word "ODIN" at 2.00am as you order your lusty warriors to attack once more. That kind of thing can put a strain on the strongest of marriages, as can staying at the keyboard until 2:00.am

    Nice to get the lowdown
I like the attitude of the person answering the questions.
And I will buy it, although it may well end up wrecking my relationship

I'm just pleased I was right with my prediction that it would be a UK and Scandanavia only map. I am a genius (and a junior member, whoo hooh )

does this mean that there will be GAs for the Sicilians?
