What Purpose Do Some Building Serve

What purpose do collage of surgeons and univeristies serve. Is there any reason to build any of them. And should you build military academies if you are not playing as the turks.

I'm not sure about any of this but I believe the military academy gives +1 discipline to all units trained in that province, the college of surgeons gives +1 health to your generals and the university gives more acumen (not sure how much) to generals. I can't remember where I heard this and I could be complelety wrong. You should probably check out the table of contents, I'm too lazy

They also give offices or titles that you can hand out to favoured generals.

I don't think they give any titles. From what I heard, college of surgeons give your generals +1 to health. The university, I'm not sure. Both give bonus to happiness, which aren't really needed, since church and cathedral already do and you're building these in a province you already have held for a long time.

I generally don't build military academies. Unless I'm playing as the Turks, +1 to drill isn't worth all the years you spend. It takes an additional 30 years to build one as the Muslims (Mosque-Grand Mosque-Military Academy) and it takes longer for Catholics and Orthodox Christians. Unless it's a very long game, they're not worth it as armor and weapon upgrades and master buildings for +1 valor are more important.

I also generally produce priests and troops from different provinces so I could produce them at the same time. Creating a military academy in one province then destroying the cathedral and making it in another province isn't worth it for me.
