I think they are all the same

Just the pic I think.
Obviously there is a difference between peasants, urban militia and miltia sergeants.
The Alomohads have a special, extra powerful militia though.
Well, wouldn't it look wierd if the army you were commanding had peasants and you were Islamic and all your peasants looked European?
Muslim peasants have a different number in their stats than Western peasants, but I can`t remember what it was or what it meant.
Yes, just checked peasants have "unit base strength" of 60 compared to 80 for Muslim peasants. Anyone know what it means?
No idea. Sounds like it could mean unit size, but they both have 100 men in.Originally Posted by [b

Muslim peasants have a charge bonus of 2. European peasants get a 4. Aside from that they're pretty much identical.Originally Posted by [b
The biggest religious difference worth bearing in mind is that the special Almohad Urban Militia is not at all like the basic Urban Militia other factions get to build. In effect the Almohad unit is an armored company of swordsmen roughly equivalent to a FMAA, available very early, inexpensive to build and maintain, and far more effective against infantry than the regular Urban Militia (which has a polearm but no armor).
Since I tend towards armies heavy on infantry I find AUMs pretty scary, but I know that in the times I've played the Almohads I've had my own militas badly chewed up by enemies that were heavy in horsemen.

AUM are very different to regular militia.

NatEngle - I don't think you are right about the charge bonus - in the crusader_unit_prod11 file it is 4 for both Muslim and vanilla peasants. But you are right, AUM are scarey.
There`s another difference. Some stat is called "moral bonus", it`s located just before the time period in the unit stats file. Most units - including Muslim peasants - don`t have a value there. Others, such as F-sgts and Highland Clansman have a value of 2, Western peasants have -2. I have no idea what that means.
What I heard was that morale bonus modifies the valour of units starting out deployed on the map - ie doesn't affect units you build - but I have not checked to see if it is true.
