What about email ?

Greetings

Apologies if this question has already been answered.

Well I have chosen to make my email/MSN public but I noticed that if I click on someone's email to mail em, I get a not authorised message.

Does this happen to everyone ?

SeljukSinan, at what point do you get this message? I'm wondering if it is because the person you are trying to email has opted to keep their email address private.

Well I get it as soon as I click the Mail button (the big blue envelope icon).

I just clicked yours and i got this message:
You are not allowed to use the messenger feature on this board
You are currently logged in as SeljukSinan

Then I clicked my own email, which is public and I got the same message. Weird. It's the same with anyone else' email. Recently I wanted to help Alrowan with a map and cud'nt get to email him, thankfully he emailed me since I put down my email in the body of the post.

Here is the link for his profile. I'm pretty sure his contact info is public. Anyway this happens every time I try, I always checked to see if email is public, don't wanna intrude

EDIT: DOH I just discovered the Entrance Hall today. I never posted here before and just realised that when u are new u are supposed to post here. That is why I gonna post some more stuff in here as I kinda missed my initiation ceremony. Glad to be a member of the org

Interesting. Have you tried sending the email from his profile? Try the click here to send alrowan an email in his profile. I'd expect the same results.

Looks like I'll have to consult with the Oracles on this one.

Yes indeed I tried that too and as you predicted, same result.

Cud it be something to do with cookies. I'm not much of a techie but I cud reconfig my Sygate firewall. It's set up with the mostly normal options. I doubt that cud pose an issue. Is this something that a mod has to enable in my profile ? Cud it be something to do with the firewall (cookies) ?

Had this same problem with a private message. Tried to send one to you even Gregoshi, but got my question answered later on anyways.

I'll look into it and then let you know. I am able to send email to you but that may be because of my moderator status.

Naagi, the private message function is reserved for Senior Members and staff. It is not available to all because of concerns regarding the stress level placed upon the server. PMs are nice but I find them a little awkward to use.

Ah was wondering if this was the case. No biggie, figured id get my answer sometime. Thought id read that in the member stuff but i sometimes have the mind of an alzheimer sufferer.

there may be a clue in the erro message I get which is:

You are not allowed to use the messenger feature on this board

Cud it be that the board is confusing email with PM ???
BTW i am making absolutely sure I am clicking the email button, the one with the light blue envelope.

Same problem here,

PM icon, Mail icon, or even the email link in the Profile, result in the same error message as SeljukSinan:

You are not allowed to use the messenger feature on this board

You are currently logged in as ToranagaSama

This not new, guess its just not been brought to attention.
