I've been playing for a while, but I didn't worry much about reinforcements much until my first post-patch Mongol invasion. My questions is this: is there any way to determine what units come up next as reinforcements? I was in a lot of trouble against the Mongols, as I got cavalry when I needed archers, infantry when I needed cavalry, etc.

I don't believe so, but before battle you can switch in different reinforcements depending on what you need. Oh and there is no such thing as a stupid question around here. Unless of course you ask a mod where you can download a warez copy of the game . That would be stupid hehe.

Idea: Why not in the expansion have a menu of reinforcements instead of the click-button-and-hope-you-get-what-you-want system. MTW is supposed to be a strategy game after all, not a slot machine.

Stupid questions are not only allowed here, they are expected. I think you weren't really applying yourself - that question showed signs of intelligence. Don't get yourself down, I'm sure you'll do fine on the next.

Well, Nikitas, my thought on that is that war in organized chaos. Plans usually rarely go with out a hitch. Same with reinforcements. Random reinforcements just represents that uncertainty. That's my justification for the reinforcement situation.

I am forced to dissagree. If you were calling in reinforcements from another province like in some games you would have to take whatever the leader of that province decides to send you.

In this case however these are armies that are in the same province. In fact all of your armies in the province that you choose to take to the field of battle should be on screen. I think we are limited to 16 unites because of game mechanics and in this case I believe that not only should you have control of your reinforcements they should also appear rather quickly. It would be best if you could bring 32 or more units if you so choose.

If they physically fit on the battlefield then, other than game mechanics, why shouldnt you be able to bring them onto the field of battle with you?

well Joebox, first of all I don't think your question is stupid, nevertheless,I am glad that you point out the reinforcement problem.I think it happened to everybody else in this board, too. So I always make sure that my reinforcement only consist of single type of unit.
