You guys should try playing them its pretty challenging due to lack of tech and infantry, but Golden Horde archers are best cav archesr in the game. By the way if you are curious about The Mongols go buy Genghis Khan: Conqueror of the World by Leo De Hartog. It covers Mongol history up to the death of Guyuk which is about 85% of Mongol Empire history. Its the best book on The Mongols I have ever read and I've read many. I haven't found a good book on Mongol history post-Guyuk yet though.

After read all your posts i don't know if you've noticed the bug in mongol generals images that i've noticed in the strategic part of the game. My version of the game is the spanish version, and i don't know if this bug affects only my version of the game. Have you noticed this bug in your versions or the images are ok?. The mongols have the image of a christian general instead of a pagan general in 1230

Playing a post-patch Italian Hard campaign, the Byzzies had the eastern 1/3rd of the map sewn up until the Hoarde came thru and tore them up. By the time the Hoarde was done with 'em, the Byzzies were lucky to hold on to the 5 or so provinces they retreated to. Lucky for the Byzzies the Hungarians got the attention of the Hoarde. Needless to say, the Byzzies didn't think the Hoarde was a cakewalk

The Golden Horde are Mongols originating from the northern plain Steppes of China. In modern history the area is referred to as Mongolia.

They developed a horse culture and the greatest bow ever devised; and were expert horsemen and incredible bowmen from horseback. They are often referred to as The Hun

The Great Wall of China was built primarily as a defense against them (the original barbarians). The wall finally become so successful, as a defense, that it caused the Hun to look West for easier conquest. Eventually, they circumvented the wall by subterfuge, conquered China and Kublai Khan was installed as Emporer of China.

The Hun fought primarily from horseback and in large numbers. Usually, they would offer their foe, the opportunity to surrender, in which case they would be leniet conquerers. If a foe did not surrender, no one, including women and babies was spared. They were totally ruthless and were considered a scourge. Their success caused a great fear and panic throughout Europe.

[There's some little ditty, that refers to them, Europeans use(d) to frighten their children into obdience) but I can't remember. Is it the Boogey Man??]

Only the death of their leader Ghangis Khan (i believe that's the correct Khan) back in their home lands, caused most of them to turn and return to the Steppes. Sparing the rest of Europe.

Those that remained mostly settled in an area of Europe that resembled the plain steppes of their origin. That area came to be called Hungary

Often, the dark hair, short stature and asiatic features found in some Europeans can be traced to the Hun gene implanted by rape, pillage and plunder.

Historically, the Hun represented one of the two great threats to European culture, the other being the Moslems. In each case Eastern Europeans bore the brunt of the invaisions.

    Beware of the Hun
In Victory and Defeat there is much honor
For valor is a gift And those who posses it
Never know for certain They will have it
    When the next test comes....

The next test is the MedMod 3.14; strive with honor.

Hi ToranagaSama, thanks for the round up, but I think you are confounding the Mongols and the Huns. An easy mistake as they both came from the same part of the world and both fought with China. However the Huns and the Mongols are separated by about 800 years. Apart from that they behaved in a very similiar manner.

The Huns appeared in the mid AD 300's. Remember Attila the Hun?

What's up, DeathFromAbove? Welcome to the Org. The Mongol images glitch has been noted before. I recall there were inquiries about how to change them, but I don't remember if anyone found a solution.

And better late than never, a big Org welcome goes out to y2kBug. Sorry, the cake is a bit stale and the soda is flat, but we were expecting you two years ago.

Yes, i reported that bug. I don't know today if is there any way to correct it. I tried configuration files (text files), but i think that this part of the data is hardcoded (i'm not sure). Maybe Gil could confirm this suposition...

I know what you mean, but in my case, would you consider 100 years temporary?
