Pay per Play?

Excuse my whining, but I was trying to create an account yesterday to get my ass whooped in a MP game, but it looks like I have to pay some $20 for it?

Is this right or is there some other way to play? Did not see this note on the box anywhere...

no, you dont have to play.. just ignore that part like everyone else.. just GS wanting more $$

It would be nice if CA allowed the player to host games and connect to them via ASE or whatever with the IP, gayspy is not nice. ;/

Smok I believe the $$$ is to register your account. That gives you full access to all GS features. If you notice a number of menu items are ghosted. It also allows you to setup a custom avatar for your account. I've only ever seen the avatar when getting on GS via GS Arcade and you mouse over the player list. Personally, I'm content with having the paperbag-over-your-head avatar.

Your best bet is to get online to play via MTW once your GS account is setup.

hmmm gregoshi im a cheapscate and ive sure has hell not registered but i get to change my icon???
and the only thing i have diff from registered users is that i cannot send others files over 1mb in size and i get annoying adverts when i first start gamespy.

PS. gamespy is not the thing that is screwing up all the games. it is MTW's internal server witch has the bugs not gamespys. go buy sum other game ie bf1942 and u will see that gamespys servers r not buggy but it is infact MTW's internal server that u use when u play mp by launching mtw.

Well, I have tried again. I even registered the game with Activision, but still cannot play MP. I am geting a INVALID CD KEY message, even though I type the key correctly (I mean how stupid can I be ). Any clues on what might be wrong?

Make sure you have the right case (upper) and include the dashes. Also make sure you don't confuse '0' (zero) and 'O' (letter o).

I posted in the Apo-room and called Activision. I have my problem resolved and was able to log into the game hall through the MTW and GameSpy.
