You know what I really miss in MTW? The cool cut scenes from STW. Nothing was cooler than seeing an assassin kill an emmisary(sp) Or a ninja wack an enemy general with a poisonous dart or a geisha girl have no problem killing three men with a musical instrument. Oh well, I guess we have to do without because of the hundred or so maps in the playable version and more men allowed on the screen in battle and the like
I don't wanna get off on a rant here but............That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Command, come in. Have arrived in Venice, streets filled with water. Please advise.

True they were pretty cool, but over time they just got too repetetive.

They added immersion, as did the throne room. In MTW I sometimes get a feeling of detatchment. Given a certain suspension of belief, with some touches like this, you can get much more into the role of a faction leader planning his grand strategy, rather than a normal guy sat at a PC. This kind of thing subconsciously makes you feel better when your doing well and could even make you care more about your virtual cannon fodder.

I would have liked to have seen more of a reward for doing well in the game. Really all you get is the ability to make larger and larger forces and a sub-standard you have won well done message.

You could take this a long way, like as you grow in power the messages from your subjects and other factions become more respectful, if not grovelling. Little touches like this in combination can lead to a much better experience than the sum of their various parts. Basically the whole strat map concept is still just a way of stringing battles together in a coherant way, while it could be much much more combining all thats good from civ type games and good rpgs in terms of stroytelling and character development and interaction.

yeah you should get to relax at home between fights, take part in jousts, kill peasants, drink beer and execute your various wives, inbetween rampant humping of young maidens
