This game should come with a warning label on the package.
After you play it awhile, you just can't stop.
It's so addictive, you lose all sense of time.
Last night after work, I started playing around 10:30pm.
I was merrily waging war, forming alliances, etc.
Little did I know that when I glanced up at the clock it read 3:00am in the morning
I worked the next day. Must admit, it was worth every minute.

I did a similar thing Gaius. I looked at the time around 2am and was going to just wrap up one or two things before bedtime. Next thing I knew, I turned around and the curtains were sunlit...6:30am

I think everyone who has played this game has done the same the only thing that made me look at the clock and go to bed was when the bin men arrived at 4.30 in the morning

Not played MP yet though, might end up getting fired from work

yes well try a night shift or two then u can take the title of medieval fanatic.

i once clocked up 36 hrs of mp, surviving on 6 toasties and 3 litres of irn bru.

lets just say be prepared to not get up for a day or two after it.

My problem is that I can't quit in the middle of a plan or until I have a goal I'm going after achieved. I'll stop once I finish off the French becomes Oh okay once I've conquered the whole world I can go to bed.

I have an efficient way of avoiding this situation, whether I like it or not... The Missus.

Only Ufo(aka Xcom) has ever given me the same feeling. Even stronger than MTW, I have to admit... got the diskettes at 8.25 pm, plays quarter of an hour to check it works, and it is 0:30 am...

Never lost more than one hour in MTW. That's already much.

My all-time favorite game before M:TW was Civ2. Just one more turn syndrome in full blast. Got it bad with this one.

What made Civ2 so good, and is beginning to feel that way with M:TW was the paternal feeling, like God watching over the world He created. However, I don't think M:TW is going to feel the same over time. Something about that first little settler going on to found an Empire.

Dunno what it was that made Civ so compelling. The Throne Room? Building the Great Wall, Bach's Cathedral, the UN? Something about that game was the all-time great addictor.

Given that, I love being able to build, then directly command the armies in battle. Imho, there has never, ever been a game which combined the two so well. This is one great game and my hat's off to the designers. They done good.
It's a good thing that war is so horrible or we would grow to love it too much.

Before MTW was out i thought i was addicted to Counter-Strike cos i played it one hour a day.
Well as I said, this was before MTW came out. NOW i am addicted. I got the game on the Release-Day in Germany which was at the end of September. So I am now playing for three months and it just doesn't get less. I also almost only play MP now and i suggest everyone to check it out him or herself.
OK one more battle now before i go to bed......

I'd take the time to write a thought provoking and meaningful reply, but right now I have to go feed my Medieval Habit.
