I'm wondering if anyone else has seen anything like this yet with the "WE"
(or even with the original STW):

I am playing as Takeda in the campaign version with the late start (1580? I forget).

I OWN East and Central Honshu, I am driving West through the general region of Mimasaka. I am feeling invulnerable... I have massive production capability at my back, I have massive armies of high-quality troops, I don't have a "horde" problem... I **AM** the "horde". I have been able to keep taxes low so that my LOWEST loyalty province is about 150%, and I have heirs.

OK, so I take a chance in a battle and my Daimyo gets killed... as I said, I have heirs!!

I actually win the battle anyway after my Daimyo is whacked... **BUT** at the beginning of the next turn ALMOST EVERY PROVINCE SIMULTANEOUSLY REVOLTS, WITH THE GARRISONS SETTING UP THEIR OWN RONIN CLANS
AND NEW RONIN CLANS POPPING UP. And this is with loyalty at 150% and up!!

In a heartbeat, I went from about 30 provinces to about 4 or 5, all scattered and surrounded by Ronin garrisons.

I went from "unstoppable" to "unwinnable" in a single turn! WTF!?!

Well... if Hojo still fields his horde, and he gets killed, does this happen to HIS domain too? If so, it adds a cute wrinkle to the fabric of the game. Did you remember to raise your heirs as proper Buddhists? Raise crows, that they shall gouge your eyes out...!

Now, you better lock up your leader in an Ivory tower, or else...

I did a "ctrl-L" (pretty much in disgust) and I did not bother to save a copy of the "lost cause" so I have no way to verify this opinion, but I think my heirs stayed loyal and maybe 1 or 2 high-rank generals. Yeah, I stayed as a Buddhist even though the starting postion already had a few churches.

Don't forget that Katsuyori was nothing like his father Shingen! I'm guessing that this is NOT a but but a true feature.

I hope that this will also happen to the other Clans as Vanya mentions. Wonder what would happen to the Uesugi if Kenshin is killed in battle, or the Imagawa if Ieyasu is lost, or even if Nobunaga/Hideyoshi are eliminated. Man would THAT make for an interesting game!

Ishikawa, it sure would have been nice if you had saved the game and re-asserted your right to rule over your fathers former retainers! lol

With variables like these (eg loyalty being linked to WHO is Daimyo and not just the Clan) the re-playability just skyrocketed.

I warned you, but did you listen? Ohh, no...it's just a harmless little bunny, isn't it?

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

    Ishi,

    This is a GOOD thing.

I don't know if you read through all the threads, but loyalty of provinces is much more accurate in this version. I know I mentioned this with regards to shinobi and religious conversion.
(the grade thread that Maggy started).

I think this also occured in the original version with loyalty dropping upon a daimyo's death, but not significantly... anyways, I am happy about this.

Ishi, did any of the old clan spring back up?? Someone said it happened to them.

I had something similar, on a smaller scale, happen when Ieyasu passed away in a foolish turn of events while trying to finish off Kyushu (I still had my buddy Mori holding off Oda in the western-center of the map...I love how long alliance can last and how aggressive the AI can get with each other...when Oda broke my treaty with him and attacked me, Mori promised aid to my side and immediately began to chew away at Oda's weaker rear front...that impressed me).

Ieyasu passed away and we had a bad harvest that year. Probably taking it as a bad omen, I had nearly all of my Kyushu province immediately revolt (despite troops and shinobi keeping the loyalty above 100%) and even had two or three long-owned provinces (like happy Musashi that was spilling out troops and therefore had a good garrison) turn on me. Fortunately, Musashi was an easy victory, as the rebels forgot about the fresh, recently created troops sitting in their province. I didn't think much of it (I assumed maybe it was the bad harvest with just a bad 'roll' on loyalty and the fact that Ieyasu was on the other side of Japan - the manual says daimyo distance affects loyalty).

It would be very interesting if great daimyo that are succeeded by sons who aren't up to par cause disloyalty. I could see Kyushu uprising easily (they were Christian and suddenly the daimyo, who was on their island, was suddenly a hundred plus miles east), but if it can affect established provinces, that great makes the game even more enjoyable.

I simply don't think that it works the same way when an AI Daimyo dies... I have whacked quite a few in WE by now, and I've never seen anything like what happened to me.

What was incredible to me was the fact that I had very carefully made sure that the loyalty in my territories was very high... as I said, all over 150%. I think there is something here that is new, different, and very odd.
